Get ready to jam!
Greetings!
This is Judah from the Sojo team and I wanted to share an event that supports our history museum.
The Sacramento Banana Festival is in Sacramento, California this August and we are hosting several Reggae bands, activities, arts and crafts, vendors, and Caribbean foods! Some of our participants favorite activities include the dog dress-up contest, banana eating contests, our marching drum parade, and rock climbing! We also support local artists in the area, as they display and sell their original work. Every food vendor is required to have a banana-themed dish, so keep an eye (and tastebuds) out for that! See you soon. :)
And for those asking, "Why a Banana Festival in Sacramento?" Historically, bananas are known to adapt to many regions and remain resilient in most spaces. Bananas are a symbol of resilience in Black-Caribbean cultures as well, as that's the fruit that helped black Jamaicans escape enslavement from the sugar cane plantations!
