Our previous post covered healthy foods to eat for acne-prone skin.

However, what if that is not the cause of our breakouts? As someone who has directly been affected by "maskne", acne caused by protective masks, I've gone through countless numbers of methods to try to avoid this annoyance.

Some cool tricks that I've learned to soften the effects of acne and prolonged mask-wearing are making sure to give your face small breaks here and there to breathe, wearing SILK/COTTON material masks, washing it on a daily basis, having a skin care routine once in the morning and once in the evening, and to avoiding makeup under the mask! (I don't use makeup, but I've read that this is a helpful trick for those that like to put on makeup!)

I had cleared up my acne 2 years ago, but then last April of 2020 when mask wearing became universal, I started to notice small breakouts here and there. No big deal, but definitely more than usual. I just thought it had to do with stress or something. However, in November of 2020 is when I started to really notice huge breakouts especially on my jawline, and it was incredibly frustrating. Even to this day, I still have those scars on my face, and it will take a while to heal.
