Santa Lucia Rotary Club continues to bring together community minded individuals to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action and we have fun while doing it! The Santa Lucia Rotary Club of Salinas is an established Rotary Club in Monterey County, California, chartered in 2014. at Elli's Great American Restaurant in Salinas, CA. Cost to attend weekly meeting is $25.00 per person which in

We are saddened to say goodbye to our friend and fellow Rotarian, Fred Ho**er, who passed away on August 24, 2026.

A Rotarian since 1995 and most recently a member of the Santa Lucia Rotary Club, Fred exemplified Service Above Self. He was a respected member of the Salinas Valley agricultural community and served as president of the California Rodeo Association.

Fred will be remembered for his friendship, leadership, and generous service to our community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mary Tsuboi, and thank her for sharing Fred’s time, talents, and friendship with us through the years.

A Funeral Mass will be held September 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Salinas, CA.

This week at Rotary Club of Salinas Santa Lucia, we welcomed Gilda Gonzales, Executive Director of CASA of Monterey County, along with Norma Aguilar and Taffra Mayo, CASA's Education Specialist, to share how CASA's volunteer advocates are changing the lives of kids in foster care right here at home.

CASA currently supports 148 children and youth through trained volunteer advocates, with 44 more kids still waiting for one.

This week, Santa Lucia Rotary welcomed Dave Fowler and Jonathan Amadi from the Housing Resource Center of Monterey County (HRCMC), an organization helping provide a continuum of housing resources, homelessness prevention services, and affordable housing opportunities throughout Monterey County.

Dave and Jonathan walked us through the journey a client may take, from a referral by a community agency, through assessment, housing placement, and ongoing support. HRCMC may fully or partially subsidize a lease until the client is able to assume the full rental payment.

Each client works with housing specialists and case managers who assist with:

• Finding appropriate housing
• Conducting inspections
• Negotiating rents with landlords
• Creating budgets and housing goals
• Providing monthly home visits and continued support

HRCMC is also looking for landlords willing to participate in the program and help provide stable housing for individuals and families in our community. To learn more, visit hrcmc.org or call (831) 424-9186, extension 170, and ask for Alexa.

Exciting news from our Rotary chapter! 🎉
This past month, we celebrated a meaningful passing of the torch and welcomed our new board members.
A huge thank you to Anna Abad, who led our chapter solo this past year after previously sharing the presidency with Ashley McDonnell. Anna's enthusiasm, energy, and creative ideas kept our chapter motivated and moving forward all year long. Thank you, Anna, for your tireless leadership!
We're also thrilled to welcome Norma Aguilar as our incoming President. Norma is excited to lead this year with a focus on the youth in our community — recognizing that they are the future of our country. Congratulations, Norma, and congratulations to the entire incoming Board!

This week at Santa Lucia Rotary, we welcomed Francisco Rojas and Jesse Shaw from Interim, Inc., a nonprofit celebrating 50 years of providing services and supporting mental health in Monterey County.

Interim, Inc. provides essential services focused on recovery, dignity, and community integration. They are the only agency in Monterey County offering a full range of support for adults living with serious mental illness, including mental health treatment, affordable housing, residential treatment, social support, homeless outreach, and supported education and employment services.

Their mission is to provide services and affordable housing that support members of our community with mental illness in building productive and satisfying lives.

Interim, Inc. is also hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, October 24, 2026, to support the Marina Kai Apartments project.

This week at Rotary Club of Salinas Santa Lucia, we welcomed students from the Alisal HS Interact Club (thanks, Jasmin!) and Lori Tuttle, founder of Hope, Horses & Kids, both bringing big news about upcoming fundraisers you won't want to miss!

Our main speaker was Lori Tuttle, founder of Hope, Horses & Kids (HHK) . a remarkable nonprofit right here in Salinas that therapeutically use horses to support our community's youth and families. Lori shared the heart behind their equine-assisted learning programs and invited us all to their upcoming signature event.
