St Luke Heritage Gardens

St Luke Heritage Gardens This page, is dedicated to the restoration of ST Luke African American Methodist Episcopal AME Church in Salisbury, Missouri.

A 1860s church is buried under us, our sister church is in Glasgow Missouri and we sprung the 2nd baptist in Salisbury. Welcome to St Luke Heritage Gardens, we are a property consisted of St Luke AME church and its parsonage, both built in the Victorian era 1890s. St Luke sits ontop of a Union Church and the parsonage is built with the material left from Union Church. A Union church was a mix of r

eligions that worshiped under one roof, it was established on the estate of one of the first settlers name Sergeant Samual Williams which sat in Buffalo Lick Township around 1812. We are all that is left of his estate, better known as the slave quarters. We also spawned the Second Baptist church in Salisbury, and our Sister church was Campbell Chapel in Glasgow as well. Our project and our history take years to restore, but since 2016 we've been slowly building back what was once rotting away. I welcome you to follow along on our journal and to view our eBay store where we sell to fund the slow restoration work.

Picked up the storm windows today...

I test fitted one onto the front of the parsonage/house...

It "fits"...I didn't realize and the gal couldn't understand what I was talking about when I was asking about how to measure them...but I measured the "cavity" of the windows...and I assumed that the windows would cover the cavity and mount to the exterior trim but? if you want them to attach to the trim...your I guess suppose to add an inch or two? to the cavity measurements...

IDK totally new to this...

I "should" be able to get them all to fit as I triple checked my measurements...but I'm not test fitting them all tonight...

I originally wanted them to mount into the cavity, so I think they look good? Better than mounted to the trim?

I do like them though, as they are white...match the storm doors and blend pretty good in with the trim and original windows...

It will take me a bit to get them all installed as I need to clean the windows, touch up paint/glazing etc but will all be on before winter for sure...

Last Lily's of the season, double tiger lily. I think I also have a single version as well..

I still do not know, where these came from? The single one, I rescued from the lot next to the church before roundup hit it, so there were always tiger lily's growing around the neighborhood...

I'll cut the final piece, get the shoe on and caulk...then I'll just have three more rooms to go in the house/parsonage...

So nice to walk on a smooth floor...the original pine was nice but it was cupped and not fun to walk on barefoot...plus the occasional splinter..

Got the shoe molding all shellacked...

Then I got down a few rows of flooring ...I'm still in a love/hate relationship with it...I like it, it's nice...can live with it but I think it looks kinda cheap against the old pine and I'm not liking the butt joints....buttt I really don't want to custom order a 3k$ floor for these two rooms...so I'll love it for now plus ms pretty loves laying on it...so if the cats are happy, well I'll be happy too I supposed :p

I suppose by tomorrow it will all be acclimated to inside and I'll get down some more...I "maybe" short on padding for in here and I just ordered more that will be here Tuesday so may have to take a day or two off...
