https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/20-Slides-with-3-Unrelated-Items-on-Each-Slide-for-Creative-Narrative-Writing-11098202

Hello Fellow Teacher,

Thank you for considering this PDF with 20 slides. Each one has 3 unrelated items. Some of those items include a shark, a chef, a baseball player, donuts, teens, a frog, money, and more. The 3 items on each slide must appear in students’ stories with some significance. Use these pictures to teach creative writing and narrative writing.

You can also use these as brain breaks in between assignments or when there is time at the end of class. Project a slide on the screen and ask students to come up with a quick caption or summary about how the 3 items are related.

To further develop students’ proficieny in all 4 ELA standards, students can create a presentation and incluce pictures on a Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva to go aiong with their stories as they share them with the class.

Students can share their stories in small literature circles and provide feedback and suggestions to help students grow as writers.

Parents can use these with their children to help spark creativity. Start a family story time where the kids tell stories based on a slide.

Have a great day,

Michele

20 Creating Writing Prompts with Protagonists, Settings, & Directions https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/20-Creating-Writing-Prompts-with-Protagonists-Settings-Directions-11086730

Hello Fellow Teacher,

There are 10 creative writing prompts on this PDF. Each one includes the location, the setting, and the protagonist’s characterization, as well as internal and external conflicts.

Students can work individually or in a small collaborative group to create these stories. To incorporate more standards, students can type and present their stories to the class and staff, or you can publish in the school newspaper.

Notice how each prompt requires students to incorporate different literary devices. Within the directions, you will see students will incorporate a variety of literary devices, including hyperbole and imagey. Others include personification, repetition, symbolism, irony, and/or juxtaposition.

Prompts also include characterization of the protagonist and their conflicts, both internal and external, so students have a starting point for their stories.

Use these slides when teaching narrative writing, literary devices, and/or creative writing.

Here are some suggestions for how to use these slides:

Select a prompt and as a class, brainstorm with the students. Individuals or small grops can work on their stories, and as a class, you can see where they go based on the brainstorm, the directions, and their ideas.

Students break into groups and create the story of their choosing. Each group will share their final version with the class. They can create slides with pictures to go along with their stories.

Students can ask questions to the "authors" after they share their stories which further develops their speaking and listening skills.

Use these slides for ELA test prep. This is a fun way for students to learn literary devices, story development, grammar, syntax, and punctuation.

Thank you,

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Friendship-First-A-Short-Story-to-Review-Literary-Devices-and-Discuss-Kindness-11020833

This 5-page PDF includes the a short story ready to be photocopied and distributed. You can have students read individually, in a pair, or in a group. You can also read this aloud as a class. Students will then answer questions about both content, literary devices, and plot development as well as identify a theme: In the end, the lesson was clear – kindness matters, and friendships may evolve, but the shared memories and experiences should be cherished.

I've included five additional activities for your students. By incorporating the story into the classroom, teachers can also address social-emotional learning, promote positive behavior, and create a supportive environment where students feel valued and understood. One of the activities gives students the opportunity to do some creative writing as well.

The next two pages include questions about the story: plot development as well as the use of literary devices. Students can complete these individually, or you have groups of students answer the different categories and share them with the class. This is a great way to develop the Speaking and Listening ELA strand.

The questions can be used for class discussions, written assignments, or as prompts for deeper exploration of the various elements within the narrative.

HERE's ANOTHER IDEA: Leave the story and the questions with the sub. They can read and answer the questions. The following day, you can discuss the answers and work on the social emotional aspect. Gone for two consecutive days? Kids can do the creative writing component on day 2.

However you use it, have fun!

Michele
