The past month and a half has been a little different around here, and before anything else, I want to thank everyone who reached out, checked in, and sent messages asking if everything was okay. I honestly had no idea so many of you would notice my radio silence, and your concern meant more than you know.
Many of you know Michelle from my posts over the years, but what most of you don’t know is that she wasn’t just one of my models. For the past four years, she and her husband Jake were our next-door neighbors, and Michelle became one of my closest friends—like a little sister. She transformed a vintage Airstream in her backyard into a legitimate salon, cut both Derek’s and my hair there. I even trusted her to do my very first wash after my hair transplant last year. Whenever she came over to model, we’d usually spend the first hour or two sitting on the couch gossiping, laughing, catching up on life, and solving absolutely none of the world’s problems.
Because both of our husbands travel during the week for work, we spent countless evenings together having cocktails, watching mindless TV, going to concerts, baseball games, and random events, or just doing life together. Just recently, Michelle and Jake sold their house here in San Diego and moved to Las Vegas, and I’ll admit I took it harder than I expected. The house next door suddenly felt a lot quieter, and I spent the days/weeks afterward missing my friends more than I can put into words.
The good news is that my dad lives in Las Vegas, so I’ll still see her and Jake, and Michelle will continue popping up from time to time modeling for Brent Edward Vintage. But as you start seeing some new faces around here, you’ll know why. Michelle leaves some incredibly big shoes to fill, and anyone who knows her understands exactly what I mean. ❤️
