In a generational, male-male dominated “boys club” industry, trust and respect is not given easily. At first it bothered me. I was not taken seriously, dismissed and told by people in the industry (that I respected) that I probably wouldn’t make it (true story). The reality is - 5 years ago I wasn’t entitled to my place at the table. I knew that respect and trust wouldn’t just be handed to me. So, I worked my a** off, kept my head down, asked questions, studied, drove hours back and forth everyday to do menial jobs in exchange for knowledge and the opportunity to have access to viewing and studying diamonds and jewelry I would otherwise never have access to. My parents always taught me a strong work ethic and to trust the process. Now, 3 years later I’ve done over 2 million dollars in sales for my custom designs. Every day I move my goal post for what success looks like, but it’s nice to have a reminder to be proud of where you stand as I build the business and clientele that I love and value.
