In Cherokee culture, women held significant positions and enjoyed certain privileges and responsibilities.
Women in Cherokee society were considered equals to men and could earn the title of War Women. They had the right to participate in councils and make decisions alongside men. This equality sometimes led outsiders to make derogatory remarks, such as the accusation of a "petticoat government" by the Irish trader Adair.
Clan kinship was matrilineal among the Cherokee, meaning that family lineage and inheritance were traced through the mother's side. Children grew up in their mother's house, and maternal uncles held the role of teaching boys essential skills related to hunting, fishing, and tribal duties.
Women owned houses and their furnishings, and marriages were often negotiated. In the event of a divorce, a woman would simply place her spouse's belongings outside the house. Cherokee women had diverse responsibilities, including caring for children, cooking, tanning skins, weaving baskets, and cultivating fields. Men contributed to some household chores but primarily focused on hunting.
Cherokee girls learned various skills by observing and participating in their community. They learned story, dancing, and acquired knowledge about their heritage. Women were integral to the Cherokee society, and their roles played a central part in the community's functioning and adaptation to changing circumstances

Why isn't this map in history books?
Before 1492, the Americas were far from "empty."
Over 70 million indigenous people lived on the continent, with hundreds of tribes, thousands of languages, each with its own territory and culture.
The map below shows North America before the invasion โ€“ when the indigenous tribes were at their peak.
After 1492, war, disease, and forced displacement wiped out much of those civilizations.
This is more than just a map.
This is a forgotten history.

The Buffalo Dream
On the snow where silence stays,
A spirit moves in timeless ways.
A child with braids, so still, so small,
Meets the Great One, who guides us all.
Mountains rise within his chest,
The prairies sleep in his gentle rest.
A thousand herds move strong and free,
Their thunder rolls across the sea.
The tipi stands, its fire bright,
Protected by ancestorsโ€™ guiding light.
The circle turns, the path is near,
The spirit world feels warm, so clear.
O Buffalo, so strong, so wise,
Keeper of earth and endless skies,
In her young eyes, your truth is shown:
The land is living, not just stone.
And in that gaze, both brave and kind,
She carries the hopes of all mankind.
Where child and spirit stand as one,
The sacred song of life is sung.
Message for Native People:
Never forget the bond with the land, the buffalo, and the ancestors. Their spirit lives within you. Protect it, honor it, and pass it onโ€”because you are the voice of your people, and the heartbeat of this Earth.

Yellowstone Bison Sets New Record for Tourist Toss
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - Park officials confirmed yesterday that a bison has set a new record for highest tourist launch, flipping an unsuspecting visitor nearly 21 feet into the air.
Witnesses say the tourist had been attempting to take a โ€œselfie with the beastโ€ when the animal, apparently unimpressed, lowered its head and delivered a textbook flip that has since been dubbed โ€œThe Yellowstone Yeet.โ€
โ€œThe previous record was 15 feet, held by a particularly cranky bull near Old Faithful in 2019,โ€ said park spokesperson Dale Hargrove. โ€œThis new toss clears that by a full story and a half. Itโ€™s really something to behold, though we strongly advise against getting close enough to see it in person.โ€
The airborne tourist reportedly landed in a patch of soft grass and walked away with nothing more than bruised pride and a viral TikTok video. Bison, meanwhile, have been seen strutting around the area as though celebrating their new title.
Park rangers are now considering setting up bleachers and a scoreboard near the Hayden Valley in anticipation of โ€œfuture attempts.โ€

John Kinsel Sr., one of the last surviving Navajo Code Talkers, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 19, 2024, at the age of 107. His remarkable service during World War II, where he used the Navajo language to develop an unbreakable code for secure military communications, remains a significant part of history.

Actor, film director, film producer and musician Keanu Charles Reeves (Keanu Charles Reeves),

Missed the first 20 minutes of the party dedicated to the end of filming of his new film in one of the clubs in New York.
He waited patiently in the rain to be let in.
No one recognized him.
The club owner said: "I didn't even know Keanu was standing in the rain waiting to be let in - he didn't say anything to anyone." "He travels by public transport". "He easily communicates with homeless people on the street and helps them".
- He is only 61 years old (September 2, 1964) - He can just eat a hot dog in the park, sitting between ordinary people.
- After filming one of the "Matrix", he gave all the stuntmen a new motorcycle - in recognition of their skill.
- He gave up most of the fee for the salaries of costume designers and computer scientists who draw special effects in "The Matrix" - decided that their share of participation in the budget of the film was underestimated.
- He reduced his fee in the film The Devil's Advocate" to have enough money to invite Al Pacino.
- Almost at the same time his best friend died; his girlfriend lost a child and soon died in a car accident, and his sister fell ill with leukemia.
Keanu did not break: he donated $5 million to the clinic that treated his sister, refused to shoot (to be with her), and created the Leukemia Foundation, donating significant sums from each fee for the film. You can be born a man, but to remain one..
