One suit. Two very different nights.

Monday: client dinner at a Financial District restaurant. The same navy suit you wore to the afternoon meeting. White shirt, dark tie, black oxfords. Nobody questions it. You look exactly right.

Friday: charity gala at the SF Symphony. You reach for the same jacket. Swap in a white French-cuff shirt, silver cufflinks, a silk pocket square, and black cap-toes that actually catch the light. Two minutes of intentional swaps.

Same suit. Completely different impression.

This is the whole point of investing in a suit that was built well. The fabric holds. The fit translates. And because the foundation is strong, the details do the rest.

A lot of clients come to Peter thinking they need multiple suits for different kinds of events. Sometimes that's true. But often, what they actually need is one suit that was made right, a few sharp accessories, and the knowledge of how to use them.

What events do you find yourself needing to dress for most? Business dinners? Galas? Weddings? Tell us in the comments. We might have a post idea for you.

There's a moment in every fitting that's hard to describe.

The jacket goes on. Peter adjusts the shoulders. Takes a look at the collar. Checks the chest. Steps back.

And then the client sees it. Sees themselves in the mirror wearing something that was made for their body, not borrowed from a rack. It's not dramatic. It's quiet. But it happens every time.

Over 50 years of that moment. Thousands of clients. Each one a little different. Each garment a little different. The same craft, the same attention, the same standard.

This is what we do at Peter Panos. Not trends. Not fast fashion. Not close enough. Just bespoke tailoring built around the person standing in front of us.

We'd love for you to experience it. peterpanos.com to start your consultation

August feels like summer. But in San Francisco, the men who look sharpest in October are already thinking about it now.

Fall is when the suiting calendar gets serious. Board meetings ramp back up. The event circuit picks up. Weddings, galas, end-of-year business dinners. And if your wardrobe isn't ready, you're scrambling to make it work with something that sort of fits.

Here's the thing about bespoke: it takes time. Not because the process is slow, but because it's done right. Measurements. A muslin. Fittings. Refinements. The result is a suit that shows up in October looking like it was made for that exact moment, because it was.

If you've been thinking about a fall suit, a charcoal worsted for the boardroom, a midnight blue for evening events, a versatile flannel for the cooler months, now is the right time to start the process.

Call 415-986-8597 or visit peterpanos.com and let's get you fitted before fall arrives

Here's something that happens a lot: a guy buys a suit in his size. It fits okay at the shoulders. Okay at the chest. The length is close.

He wears it to something important. And there's this nagging feeling all night. Something's off. He can't name it. But it's there.

What he's describing, almost always, is the collar. When the jacket collar doesn't sit flush against your shirt collar, the whole thing reads as unfinished, even if every other detail is right. Most people won't know why the suit looks slightly off. They'll just feel it.

That gap is one of the most common signs that a suit was not made for the person wearing it. It can come from shoulder slope, posture, jacket cut, or the way the garment was constructed. And it's the kind of thing an off-the-rack alteration rarely fixes cleanly.

A bespoke suit starts with your posture. Your shoulder angle. The way you actually stand. So the collar sits right, not because of a fix, but because the jacket was built for you from the start.

If you've been wearing a suit that almost fits, we'd love to show you the difference. Call us at 415-986-8597 or visit peterpanos.com.

Summer in San Francisco is its own thing. Fog in the morning, warmth by noon, a chill by the time you're heading to dinner.

Which means that "summer fabric" here isn't what it is elsewhere. You don't need the thinnest tropical wool you can find. You need something that breathes well, holds its shape through the layers of a real San Francisco day, and still looks sharp at 7pm when the temperature drops.

Wool-silk blends work beautifully for this. So do lightweight worsted wools with a bit of structure. Peter has been dressing San Francisco men through these exact conditions for over 50 years. He knows what works here.

If you've been thinking about a summer suit or a lighter sport coat and you're not sure where to start, that's what the consultation is for. No pressure, just a conversation.

Real talk about dry cleaning: you probably don't need it as often as you think.

Dry cleaning chemicals are effective, but they're also hard on natural fibers. For a bespoke suit made from fine wool or a wool-silk blend, over-cleaning is one of the easiest ways to shorten its life.

What actually works between professional cleans:
A soft-bristle brush after each wear to lift dust and surface particles before they settle. A wide wooden hanger, not a wire one, to keep the jacket's shoulders in shape. 24 to 48 hours of rest between wears so the fibers can recover. And a handheld steamer for light wrinkles, held slightly away from the fabric and moved slowly downward.

Most suits only need professional cleaning a few times a year. The rest is habit.

If you've ever wondered how to take care of a garment Peter made for you, or what to do about a specific fabric, give us a call. We're always happy to advise. 415-986-8597.

Pull back the lining of a fine suit jacket and you'll find what separates a real investment piece from something that just looks good on a hanger.
The canvas.

In a fused suit, the internal layers are glued together. It's faster, it's cheaper, and over time it can bubble, stiffen, or separate. You've probably seen it on an older jacket without knowing what caused it.

In a canvassed suit, there's an internal layer of canvas that lives between the outer fabric and the lining. It moves with your body. It breathes. It gradually takes on the shape of your chest and torso. A full canvas jacket, worn regularly for years, literally becomes more yours over time.

At Peter Panos, every bespoke jacket is built with full canvas construction. Not because it's the easy choice, but because it's the right one for a garment built to last.

Want to feel the difference for yourself? We'd love to show you in person. Book a consultation at peterpanos.com.

Here's something that trips up a lot of guys shopping for a suit: Super 150s sounds better than Super 110s, right? Higher number, better suit.
Not necessarily.

The "Super" number tells you how fine the wool fiber is. And yes, finer can mean softer. But it also means more delicate. A Super 150s wool worn five days a week will show wear faster than a well-chosen Super 110s or Super 120s.

For a suit you're going to actually live in, a boardroom rotation, a weekly business staple, a practical Super number with excellent construction and a trusted mill behind it will outperform a flashy label in real-world wear every time.

The fabric Peter recommends for you isn't based on what sounds impressive. It's based on how you'll actually wear it.

Independence Day means something a little different when you've spent 48 years helping men dress exactly the way they want.

No compromises. No "close enough." No suit that sort of fits, kind of.

Just clothes that are entirely yours, built around your body, your style, your life.
That's a version of independence we can get behind.

Happy 4th of July from all of us at Peter Panos.
