XIMALLI

The Chimalli, meaning “shield” in Nahuatl, was one of the most important symbols of protection, discipline, and warrior identity in Mexica culture 🛡️

Far more than a weapon of defense, the chimalli represented honor, courage, and the responsibility to protect one’s people, community, and sacred way of life.

These Ximalli pendents are hand made with an obsidian base and various other precious stones including turquoise, tiger eye, coral, aventurine, mother of pearl, jaspar and sodalite.

Today, the chimalli continues to remind us to stand firm in who we are, protect our culture and community, and carry forward the legacy of our ancestors.

We are thrilled to announce our action-packed line up for our 28th Annual Mexica New Year happening next weekend in San Jose.

We will be lighting our ceremonial fire Friday Night with our 5th Annual Cali Native night, co-hosted by the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, hosting Northern California traditional Miwok and Pomo Dance.

Saturday will begin with our Sunrise ceremony at 6AM to set our intentions for our 2nd day of ceremony. At 10 AM will be powerful unification of Aztec Dancers from San Jose, the Bay Area, LA, San Diego, Seattle, WA, Utah, Veracruz, Guadalajara and Mexico City. Saturday at 5:30 will be closed out by the White Mountain Apache Crown Dancers.

Sunday is another full line up of traditional dance groups and talented musicians to bring blessings and good energy for all.
