Introducing pumpkins and painting is the perfect autumn art activity—one of my favorites to do with children.

There are so many fun aspects to this:

1. It can be a process-based art activity

2. It’s a great way to take children outdoors to visit a pumpkin patch and observe how pumpkins grow

3. You can even show them how pumpkins are used for food—maybe bake one into a pie or bread

4. The children can clean and prepare a pumpkin

5. And, paint pumpkins to celebrate the fall harvest
