modern knitting patterns and tutorials Knitting has always been very special for me. I knit to relax & express my creativity.

It makes me happy to know that my tutorials and patterns help people to discover new dimensions of knitting. This is my main source of motivation. I always try to design items that I can wear myself. Experiments with colors, forms, and patterns don't allow my passion to fade. I find inspiration and ideas in travels, in movies, and in walks along the streets of San Francisco.

Flock-2026!
Finally got the time to give these memories a permanent spot on my grid ♥️

Flock Fiber Festival this year was a whirlwind of events, lovely people, and gorgeous yarn. I even couldn’t help buying some! Which happens pretty much never 🙃
A huge thank you to Jess La Mercerie for organizing such a wonderful event! It’s only getting better year after year 💪🏼

The haul:
- A tote and a skein from Spincycle Yarns , with the yarn being an emergency project that just jumped right onto my needles Saturday!
- The cutest project bag 구블스 • goobles
- A skein of cashmere / yak from The Lamb & Kid for a single skein design I’m plotting
- My favorite ladybug ceramics from Jenn Gauer and Meghan Radick that I am slowly building a collection of
- Several balls of the newest Serene DK by Silbia Ro 🇰🇷🇺🇸 that’s going to become a very textured shawl

The people:
- I wouldn’t have had half as much fun without my friend and an unofficial but unapologetic promo-manager Harry Haisty
- The talk with Making Conversation | Knitting, Crochet & Maker Stories was a delight! Thank you Jen Jen | knitting + marketing + podcast host , Olga Olga Buraya-Kefelian | Knitwear Design , and Catherine Catherine Clark for an amazing time ♥️

This year I was marginally better at taking photos, but still missed doing this with several others. Also, haven’t gotten a single photo from either of my classes 😅 Oh well! Will try to do better next time (or so she says).

Now to the piles of work waiting (im)patiently behind the scenes!

Call for testknitters: Koa Shawl 🌷

This was 100% a situation where yarn took the leading role in designing a piece! I fell in love with the gorgeous Daydream colorway from Seismic Yarn at first sight, and here we are ✨

Highlights:
- 2 skeins of fi*****ng weight yarn in 2 colors
- my signature V-shape construction
- continues the story of Ohia Shawl (shown on last photo)
- lace section is both charted and written out

This was a comfort knit for me, with all the favorite little things - from its travelling stitches and borders of star stitch leaves to delicate bud motifs. Even though figuring it out took a while, the result was so worth it ♥️

I knit my piece in Cashmere + Silk from Bare Naked Wools | Natural undyed yarn , a lace weight yarn I held triple to get to DK weight gauge. This pattern can be worked with different yarn weights and with a wide range of yardages. Just weigh your yarn at the beginning of work, increase until there’s roughly half left, then start decreasing ⚘

Projects and places from the last month ♥️

It’s been quiet here while we were spending time with the family in Europe. Such a wonderful few weeks! Not much knitting done (talk about overpacking projects 🙃), but a few exciting things were on my needles:
♡ Cuore Poncho with Blick Art Materials - the sample is now finished and I can’t wait to show it to you styled! Such a fun piece.

♡ A new shawl design with Seismic Yarn - if there’s such a thing as capturing someone’s essence in a yarn colorway, I’m pretty sure Eva has accomplished it here for me. Love!
// Mostly worked on in Italy.
♡ Bellheather Shawl with Bare Naked Wools | Natural undyed yarn - coming tomorrow! This was a comfort knit with the most luxurious yarn from my last Rhinebeck and I can’t wait to wear it *a lot* this fall.

My sparkliest knit to date ✨
I had an idea for this version of Flutter and Bloom Bandana the moment I laid my eyes on the new Glimmer yarn Juniper Moon Farm . That is, I reeeeeally wanted to make a hip scarf out of it! With statement tassels and fun edge, and all the texture, of course 💕

I’m so happy with how it came out and can’t wait to wear it all summer! Especially now, visiting Europe, omg, this heatwave is making me very picky about my knits 😶‍🌫️

Ever since I’ve designed the Flutter and Bloom Shawl I wanted to make a smaller accessory using the same lace stitch pattern. It was just too satisfying to knit! So here she comes, the Flutter and Bloom Bandana.

This is another one of my favorite “knit until you’re happy with the size or run out of yarn” kind of pieces, and yes, it can be made with pretty much any yarn weight! This pattern is perfect for using up single skeins or partial skeins in your stash.
For this white sample, I used Knit Picks Gossy, and stitch definition is impeccable ✨ Wait until I show you how the pink one blocked out!
