Dear Strength & Grace Boutique,
How do you say goodbye to something that changed your life?
For eight years, you were more than just a business. You were a season of life, a place of growth, a constant through so many changes. You gave me something I didn’t even realize I needed at the time: freedom.
Freedom to be there.
You allowed me to spend my days with Maddie and Ethan when they were little. They grew up inside these walls, tagging along to work, “helping” behind the counter, becoming part of something that was never just mine. It was ours.
You gave me flexibility when my family needed it most. When my mom was critically ill, you made it possible for me to show up for her. That is something I will carry with me forever.
I think back to our very first space on Church Hill (after leaving the basement)…excitement, the unknown, the pride of opening the doors for the first time. I had no idea then where this journey would take us.
And then there was COVID… the uncertainty, the fear, wondering if we would even make it through. But somehow, we did. We pivoted. We sold face masks, packed orders, and drove all over town making deliveries for hours each day. We went live, we connected, we showed up for our community and they showed up for us. In a time when the world felt so isolated, you became a place of connection.
We grew. We moved. We created something new again. We hosted events, filling the upstairs with laughter, building something that felt alive.
And now… we’re here.
This week, I’ve found myself here at night, surrounded by quieter racks and emptier shelves.
And somehow, the quieter it gets… the louder it feels.
Because it’s not just empty space—
it’s full of every memory that ever lived here.
A new season of life where the very flexibility you once gave me is no longer what my family needs. Life has shifted. My kids have grown. Their worlds are bigger, busier, and require me in different ways. And as hard as it is to say, holding onto you no longer fits the life we’re living today.
But that doesn’t take away from what you were.
You served me well. You carried me through some of the most meaningful years of my life.
And I am so, so grateful.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for the lessons.
Thank you for the people.
Thank you for helping me become who I am today.
You will always be a part of my story.
With Strength & Grace always,
Caitlin
