Everybody wants to talk about the emissions and power usage from data centers… but nobody wants to talk about the MASSIVE opportunities they’re bringing to Utah.

Right now, data centers are creating some of the biggest construction and infrastructure projects in the western United States.

That means:

👷 Thousands of construction jobs
💰 High-paying careers
🔧 Opportunities for skilled trades
🏗️ Growth for contractors and local businesses
⚡ Major infrastructure expansion
🦺 Huge demand for safety professionals
📈 Long-term economic growth for Utah

Like it or not, the modern world runs on data infrastructure.
AI, hospitals, emergency services, banking, communication, cloud systems — all of it depends on facilities like these.

Do the environmental conversations matter? Absolutely.

Not every guy without gloves or glasses is being careless. Sometimes the gear is uncomfortable, damaged, doesn’t fit right, or they simply don’t understand the risk anymore because “nothing has happened yet.”

That’s why talking to your crews matters.
Not just enforcing PPE — explaining the why behind it.

Some of the best safety culture is built in simple jobsite conversations, not safety manuals.

A lot of companies talk about people being “their greatest asset,” but you can usually tell the truth by how they treat workers when production gets tight.

If people are only viewed as a dollar amount, eventually safety becomes just another box to check.

But good safety culture is different.
It’s knowing your crew has value far beyond what’s on a paycheck:

* Experience
* Work ethic
* Knowledge
* Looking out for one another
* Catching problems before they become incidents

That stuff doesn’t show up on a spreadsheet, but it’s what keeps jobs moving and people going home safe.

A worker’s worth isn’t just measured by labor rates or production numbers. Sometimes the most valuable person on site is the one willing to slow things down and speak up before something goes wrong.

That’s real culture.

🚧 Most accidents usually don’t come outta nowhere.
It’s normally the little stuff that gets ignored — rushing, taking shortcuts, distractions, or hazards nobody stopped to fix. ⚠️

Real safety starts before the job even kicks off:
👀 Look over the work
🧠 Think through the risks
🛠️ Put the right controls in place
🤝 Watch each other’s backs

Safety ain’t about being perfect or acting like the “safety guy.” It’s about paying attention, speaking up when something feels off, and making smart calls before somebody gets hurt.

At the end of the day, nobody cares about a checked box if someone doesn’t make it home. 🏠

You can feel it when that connection slips. Things don’t hit the same. You start questioning yourself more. It gets heavier than it should.

But when you stay connected to it… when you actually understand your background and what shaped you… it gives you something real to stand on. It gives you clarity. It keeps you steady when life starts pushing.

Culture isn’t just about the past—it’s part of how you stay solid moving forward.

Not a “holiday”… but it should be.

This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week — and this one hits close to home.

Every cone, every sign, every lane closure…
👉 That’s someone’s workplace.
👉 That’s someone’s dad, mom, brother, or sister.

Too many close calls happen because people are in a rush, distracted, or just not paying attention.

The truth is simple:
We don’t need more rules — we need more awareness.

Slow down.
Pay attention.
Respect the zone.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t about compliance…
It’s about making sure everyone makes it home.

📋 OSHA Recordkeeping: Where Good Safety Programs Get Misunderstood

Let’s be real—recordkeeping isn’t the sexy part of safety.

But it is one of the most critical.

Because when it’s wrong, it doesn’t just affect compliance…
👉 It affects your data
👉 Your trends
👉 Your decisions in the field

And that’s where problems start.

🔎 The biggest issue I see?
First aid vs. medical treatment.

Get that wrong, and your entire log is off.
Which means your TCIR, DART, and overall risk picture? Off too.

🚨 Quick reminder on reporting (this still gets missed):
• Fatality → 8 hours
• Hospitalization → 24 hours
• Amputation → 24 hours
• Loss of eye → 24 hours

These aren’t suggestions—these are hard requirements.

Metrics only matter if the data is accurate.

You can’t manage what you don’t measure…
And you definitely can’t trust what’s measured wrong.
