It all started with the purchase of my mid century modern ranch in the heart of Savannah Georgia. My son and I took on most of the renovations ourselves changing out light fixtures bringing back a little mid century at a time. I believe my first purchase were the PH-5s (Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulson) the kitchen island in a dusty blue orange white combination from there the Kitchen went from
80s to 60s mod with painted zebranowood cabinets, terrazzo tile floors and a Sputnik over the breakfast table. I love bold colors like Farrow & Balls Acid Drop (lime green), Dutch Orange paint, dark woods with heavy texture like zebrano wood and the richness of walnut. From there I became obsessed with Adrian Pearsall with his clean lines, uber comfortable chairs featuring rich sculpturally carved walnut hand rests and bold fabrics. My favorite wood by far is zeebrawood and I've gotten pretty good at faux painting zeebrawood trim for my home and now my kitchen cabinets - Second in line would have to be Walnut for the rich grain patterns and deep hues. For me bringing mid century modern into my home means adding rich colors, textural surfaces and vintage furnishings. For Upholstry I love colorful tweeds and rich velvets in bright hues, Acid Drop Green paint by Fall & Barrow one of my all-time favorite colors, followed closely by Dutch Orange. Wallpaper- bring it back please but not on every wall one accent wall in a room is enough. My personal favorite site for wallpaper is the paint store where you can find a wonderful selection of designer wallpapers by Fall & Barrow and Harlequin. Texture, mcm is all about bringing the outdoors in so I love a wood accent wall and love it even more if its sculptural in nature, combed plywood, carved geometric shapes stained in a deep rich walnut. Then my best friends Alvin Aldos & Justin Micheau bought their fabulous mid century ranch and the decorating began all over again. Alvin and I have taken the next natural step and opened this shop in Vendors on Victor to share our love of mid century and design and decorating ideas with you!
