What if taking back control of your day has less to do with eliminating interruptions, and more to do with designing your life around them?
In this episode of King Moves, Ethan King and Justin King unpack why some days feel completely derailed, even when you’ve been busy from morning to night.
The problem may start before the first interruption ever happens. When you picture exactly how your day should unfold, every unexpected phone call, meeting, family need, or distraction can feel like something stealing your time.
But chaos isn’t going away.
Ethan and Justin explore a different approach: protecting the parts of your schedule that matter most, creating space for the inevitable “whirlwind,” and becoming more intentional about how your days and weeks are designed.
Because taking back control doesn’t require a perfect schedule. It may require changing what you expect from one.
What you will learn in this episode

How to recognize when your expectations are creating unnecessary frustration
How to protect focused work from avoidable interruptions
How to plan for the “whirlwind” instead of pretending it won’t happen
How to create boundaries around the most important parts of your day
How to structure your week so chaos doesn’t consume all of it
How to design a schedule around the way you actually work and live

Questions answered

Why do interruptions make some people more frustrated than others?
How can you regain control when your day doesn’t go according to plan?
How much of your schedule should you actually try to control?
What is the “whirlwind,” and why should you plan for it?
How can protecting your mornings and evenings change the way your entire day feels?
Why does Ethan intentionally protect Mondays?
What does it mean to “sandwich” your interruptions?
How can greater awareness help you build a schedule that works for you?

You don’t have to own the company to think like a business owner.

If you’re an employee, YOU are still the CEO of your career.

Your time. Your skills. Your reputation. Your relationships.

Those are your assets.

Stop waiting for someone else to create your opportunities. Take ownership. Create value. Solve bigger problems.

The question is: are you working *for* your future - or building it?

👇 What would change if you started thinking like an owner today?

Many of you have heard about our lawsuit story over 10 years ago. The lawsuit I thought was hurting my business… ended up making it stronger.

We went through a nasty legal battle. Money was draining. Stress was climbing. And it started affecting my health, my family, and my peace.

Then I realized: I couldn't control the lawsuit. But I could control what I did next.

So I stopped staring at the problem and started winning in the areas I could control.

Ironically, the changes that lawsuit forced us to make helped catapult the business to a higher level.

Sometimes the setback is actually the setup.

What are you facing right now that might be working for you - not against you?

Are you holding on so tightly to what you've built that you've stopped building?
Ethan King and Justin King dig into the hidden cost of winning. After Justin rattles off a year that included ten marathons, a wedding, a baby, and a move, the conversation takes a turn neither host expected.
Why does momentum stall right after a breakthrough?
Ethan shares a personal story about the emotional crash that followed a career-defining moment and the realization that no one was waiting at the airport anymore. Together they explore why protecting your position is the fastest way to lose it and what the world's most enduring icons do differently than the one-hit wonders who disappear.
What you will learn in this episode:

How to recognize when you've shifted from playing to win to playing not to lose
How to use "regression to the mean" as a tool instead of a threat
How to reinvent yourself without losing what makes you authentic
How to zoom out and reclaim perspective when progress feels invisible

Questions answered:

Why do high achievers crash emotionally after their biggest wins?
What does a FIFA match reveal about the psychology of protecting a lead?
What separates Snoop Dogg from Vanilla Ice three decades later?
Is calling yourself "at your peak" actually setting you up for decline?
How do you follow up a life-changing year without playing defense?

The winning formula for AI is customization. And how do you customize? With data. And who has the most data on us and our habits? Hmm...🤔

A ton of different players are vying for AI supremacy, but the Big 4 (Meta, Google, Amazon & Apple) have the most valuable resource - tons and tons of our data.

So while OpenAI had the lead (which now they've fallen behind) the Big 4 are poised to take over.

But who do you think wins the AI arms race? What AI LLM do you use?

Today I’m working with a room full of incredible business owners, several of them in the ticketing industry, to build something most people still don’t realize is possible: AI employees.

Think of an executive assistant you can message like a human coworker. You can ask it to check email, prepare for a meeting, track follow-ups, draft replies, pull numbers, and report back when the work is done.

Most people are still using AI like a search box. These owners are building AI coworkers that can take responsibility for real work.

This is the work I love. The technology is impressive, but the bigger win is what it gives people back: time, focus, and the freedom to lead instead of chasing every task.

AI replaces friction, not people. Today, we’re putting that idea to work.

Which AI should you actually use?

There’s no single “best” LLM. There’s the best one for the job.

ChatGPT: The Swiss Army knife. Great all-around choice for business, content, analysis, and customization.

Claude: Excellent for natural-sounding writing, long conversations, editing, and decision-making.

Perplexity: Your research assistant. Great for digging into current information on the web.

Gemini: Especially useful if you live inside the Google ecosystem.

Copilot: Makes sense if your business runs heavily on Microsoft 365.

Grok: Another strong general-purpose option, with its own unique strengths.

My advice? Don’t marry one model.

Use the right tool for the task.

Which AI are you using most right now - and why?
