Mom has been doing so well, and this week in Savannah has felt like a gentle, beautiful pause for her.
I’ve had the privilege of witnessing her journey over the past few years. From where she was three years ago to where she is today, the growth has been incredible. I’ve seen such leaps and bounds, and I am so deeply proud of her—of her strength, her resilience, and everything she’s overcome in such a short time.
She went through major, life-altering surgery two years ago. We almost lost her. Truly. And having her here with us now feels like such a gift. I’ve always believed in God, but I believe even more now because I’ve seen Him at work—through the doctors, the surgeons, the nurses. I witnessed something bigger than chance. I almost saw my mom take her last breath, and you can’t just call that luck. It was something greater, something loving, something beyond all of us.
And now, look at her. She’s such a beautiful example of that grace—of something higher and stronger than we can fully understand.
There’s something about this place — the Spanish moss, the scent of magnolias, and the distant clip-clop of carriage horses — that invites you to slow down. It’s given her space to relax, enjoy people, and be surrounded by simple kindness. She’ll always be a Jersey girl at heart, but right now she’s wrapped in a bit of Southern grace, and it suits her.
Today was especially touching. Jonathan and Justin came by with flowers and vases they made themselves, and it truly brightened her day. Such a simple gesture meant so much.
We’re so grateful for the people we’ve met here and how they’ve made us feel at home.
It’s been a wonderful week for Mom, and I hope she has many more days like this — peaceful, joyful, and filled with love.
