POV: You finally made it… don’t ruin your trip in the first six hours. 😂
Nobody talks about this, but how you spend your first few hours can completely change the rest of your trip.
After a LOT of travel, these are the arrival-day rules I swear by:
Rule #1: Never book something you’d be devastated to miss.
The restaurant you stalked for three months? The sunset cruise? Your one must-do activity? Not today. Flights get delayed, bags disappear, and jet lag has other plans. Day one is buffer day.
Rule #2: Get outside before you accidentally end up in bed.
Drop the bags, change your clothes, and GO. Coffee, a little walk, lunch outside—anything. Sunlight + fresh air helps reset your body clock and keeps the “I’ll just lie down for five minutes” nap from becoming four hours. 😂
Rule #3: Unpack before you sit down.
Ten minutes. Clothes hung up, toiletries out, suitcase tucked away. Suddenly you’re not in transit anymore. You’re on vacation.
Rule #4: Water first. Margarita second.
Boring advice. Unfortunately, excellent advice. 😂 Hydrate, eat something real, then vacation drink.
Rule #5: Get on local time ASAP.
Eat when they eat. Sleep when they sleep. And unless you absolutely cannot function, do not let the 4 PM hotel nap win. She is not your friend.
Rule 6: Stop trying to “make the most” of day one.
You do not need to land, change, sightsee, make a reservation, catch sunset AND find the cutest cocktail bar.
Your only job on arrival day is to arrive well. Save this for your next trip!!!
