MORE gratitude - this time to the incomparable team at Frazey Vintage Barnwood Company. Responding to our call for support in demolition of two structures on the Community of Hope campus, the Frazey team allowed us to focus on reclamation of these historical structures - providing barnwood and tin for numerous projects - while pouring hours of labor into supporting our progress on the campus. We are grateful to their team for their dedication to our veteran community.

Unbelievable weather for a Midwest November… This early 20’s hay barn provided our 3 generation crew with many smiles! Thank You Lori & Steve for allowing us to save another piece of Nebraska history!

The floor boards were all oak! We also found some treasure after taking the floor out! The papers between the oak and the added floor boards date back to 1881. We also found some cold hard cash from 1950!

1850 Ohio Barn Update! Two layers of shingles are off and the roof planks are coming off! Leaving some of the siding on to provide rigidity to the trusses while peeling the roof off.

This home was built in 1896 and at one time was a parsonage for a church in the Nebraska country side. Decades ago it was moved to a town in SE Nebraska. Since then it has received many renovations and additions. Not long ago the 5 layers of shingles, yes FIVE, were peeled back to give way to a brand new roof. Shockingly it was found that many repairs and patches were made beneath the wood shaker shingles (1st layer) with vintage license plates from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Surprisingly in excellent condition. They are a treasure I plan to hold on to!

1850 Ohio Barn Update! So the barn siding is starting to come off along with the exterior and interior doors. As you can see they had some heavy duty nailing patterns. I also found an indicator that part of the foundation was shored up in 1904. The main beams are in pretty good shape, for the most part, just some surface rot. Stay tuned as we deconstruct, it should be a fun one!

Did you know that the Chevrolet bowtie was introduced in October 1913! The exact origin of the bowtie has conflicting stories and remains somewhat of a mystery today…
