Making bags to help local elders carry their stuff! Which one is your favorite fabric combo?? Comment with number of your favorite!

Our last Donation Workshop we worked on walker bags to take to Sheboygan Senior Communities. We ended up with 13 total, about 7 done at the workshop, and people finished up a few at home.

What do I love about longarm quilting? The variety of projects and the chance to be creative with each one! From clothing to table toppers, baby quilts to celebration t-shirt quilts - it’s always something different, and always a chance to work with other creative folks to make something special and unique!

What do I love more than quilting? Quilting with friends!! This year I am looking forward to hosting a “maker’s retreat” Apr 23-26, 2026, at Daycholah Center on Green Lake (near Ripon, WI). The best part? You don’t have to quilt - this retreat is for any fiber arts - sewing clothes, quilting, knitting, crocheting, making bags, weaving, embroidery, and more!! If it involves fabric, thread or yarn, we’ll probably have someone doing it! I love spending time with other creative folks - sharing knowledge & getting inspired! I'd love to have you join us - it will be a blast!

I’ve been sewing since I was 8, but started quilting in about 2017. During that time, I’ve only had the chance to make a few quilts for myself. I love (almost!) every quilt I’ve ever worked on, but I think my favorite was this gift for my husband, Nathan! If you can’t tell he has an interest in tools and woodworking 😊. I love the combo of fabrics, I love the pattern (Labyrinth by Calico Cottage Quilt Design), I love how perfect my center pinwheel points turned out, and I love the fact that I was able to reuse fabric from an old bedskirt that I had made when we were first married to finish the backing!

Did you know I’ve been sewing since I was 8? And did you also know that for the first few years, I really, really disliked it? It’s true - like with the passion only a wronged child can muster (because my mother was making me do it)! And now, I’m running a sewing-based business, longarm quilting, creating memory quilts, making bags of all sorts, and teaching others all the things I love about sewing & quilting! And clearly enjoying myself 😊

Slight change for this week’s Donation Workshop (Jan. 31, 1:30-5:00pm), I had planned to try a fast and easy quilt pattern, but we’ve had a request for walker bags from a local senior living home, so we are going to try to help them out. Sign up for Saturday’s workshop here:
