This was a bit of a harrowing experience, 10 minutes after hopping off the boat to begin our Blacktail hunt in Alaska, this sow brown bear with two cubs caught out wind.

Instead of running away like most would, she came towards us. This led to one of the more tense encounters of my hunting career.

These fish have a swim bladder that they use to maintain specific buoyancy at deep depths. Think like ballast on a submarine

Yellow eye rockfish can live to be 150 years old. Our captain estimated this fish was 50+ years old. Crazy to catch a fish and realize it’s been alive longer than you!

Pro tip: if you’re gonna go to Alaska and chase caribou, bring a bit of instant mashed potatoes, a splash of bourbon, and a guy who can cook all fancy like.
Add a splash of fresh pickle blueberries and freshly picked caribou backstrap and you’re golden pony boy.
