Mekong River Textiles Beautiful fabrics - silk and cottons - from fair trade weavers.

Offering hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics from women's weaving cooperatives in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. These village artisans provide important supplementary income for their families while maintaining ancient weaving and dyeing traditions. Our specialty is IKAT resist-dyed fabrics, supplementary weft, and other embellished fabrics from SE Asia's rich textile heritage. We support groups who are "Green Product" certified while partnering with Fair Trade Organizations locally and internationally. Our dyers use both natural dyes and Low Impact Dyes from Germany and participate in "Weavers for the Environment" eco-friendly dye practices. We create an artistic vision for our hand-woven textiles through our wearable art and by sharing the work of other fiber artists designing with our fabrics. Our clothing patterns and art-to wear clothing creations produced in our studio may be purchased at our shows.

don't miss this fabulous show ✨

The exhibition at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, “Making Their Mark," is outstanding, showcasing works by women whose painting, sculpture, textiles, beadwork, and ceramics challenge tradition.

From the Shah Garg Collection in San Francisco, each piece demonstrates the signature role women artists played in the development of modern abstract art.

While textile works by Shiela Hick, Olga de Amaral, and Melissa Cody are sure to please, you might check out the fresh pixelated abstraction on canvas of Howardena Pindell, with its multi-layered technique, or the stitched and painted work of Pacita Abad, “Liquid Experience”.

So many great pieces to see! Below you will find photos of two favorites:

Shiela Hicks' Taxco, ca.1970, Wool, cotton, and metallic thread

Melissa Cody, Three Rivers, 2021, Wool and aniline dye
