Today, we remember Al López on what would have been his 118th birthday.

Born August 20, 1908, in Tampa, Florida, López spent 19 seasons as a major league catcher, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cleveland Indians. He became known for his defensive ability and leadership behind the plate, eventually setting a major league record with 1,918 games caught, a mark that stood for four decades.

After his playing career, López found another calling in the dugout. He led the Cleveland Indians to the 1954 American League pennant after a 111-win season, then guided the Chicago White Sox to the 1959 AL pennant and became known for his aggressive, speed-focused style of managing. His teams never posted a losing record in any of his 15 full major league seasons as a manager.

López was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977. He passed away on October 30, 2005, in Tampa at the age of 97.

His career was a rare example of excellence both behind the plate and in the dugout, leaving a legacy that continues to be part of baseball history.

At FC Goods, we honor the players, managers, and stories that helped shape the game.

Born on August 20, 1944, Graig Nettles built a remarkable 22-year Major League career with the Twins, Indians, Yankees, Padres, Braves, and Expos. He finished with 390 home runs, 2,225 hits, six All-Star selections, and two Gold Glove Awards.

Nettles became especially known for his years in New York. He helped the Yankees win the World Series in 1977 and 1978, with his defensive performance at third base becoming one of the defining parts of the 1978 championship. In Game 3 of that World Series, his remarkable glove work helped keep the Dodgers off the scoreboard and played a major role in the Yankees' victory.

He also earned the 1981 ALCS MVP Award after batting .500 with nine RBIs against the Oakland Athletics.

Today, we celebrate Graig Nettles and the combination of power, defense, toughness, and personality that made him such an important part of baseball history.

Happy Birthday, Graig Nettles.

Remembering Roberto Clemente.

Born on August 18, 1934, Clemente became one of the greatest and most respected players in baseball history. During his 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he recorded exactly 3,000 hits, won 12 Gold Glove Awards, earned 15 All-Star selections, and helped lead the Pirates to two World Series championships.

But his legacy extends far beyond baseball statistics. Clemente was known for his humanitarian work and his dedication to helping communities in need.

On December 31, 1972, at the age of 38, Roberto Clemente tragically lost his life in a plane crash while delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

More than 50 years later, his impact continues to be felt throughout the baseball world. His name remains synonymous with excellence, compassion, and service.

At FC Goods, we're proud to honor the legends who helped shape the history of the game.

The legacy was never just in the game. It was always in the leather.

Every FC Goods wallet begins with a glove that already lived a remarkable story on the baseball field. Years of catches, innings, victories, and memories are preserved in every crease, every mark, and every stitch.

Our process is simple:

Source: Authentic vintage baseball gloves.

Restore: Carefully preserve and prepare the leather while maintaining its character.

Handcraft: Transform that history into one-of-a-kind wallets and accessories designed to be carried every day.

Because when a piece of leather has already spent decades creating memories, its story shouldn't end in a storage box.

It should continue for generations to come.

Did you know that every baseball contains exactly 108 double stitches?

Those iconic red seams aren't just part of the design. They're one of the most important features of the game.

Every regulation baseball is still hand-stitched using a traditional figure-eight pattern, creating 216 individual stitches that help maintain the ball's shape, durability, and performance. The raised seams also affect how the ball moves through the air, influencing everything from fastballs to curveballs.

And there's even more beneath the surface. A single baseball contains more than 369 yards of yarn wrapped around a cork-and-rubber core before the leather cover is carefully stitched into place.

Baseball has always been a game built on craftsmanship, and sometimes the smallest details tell the biggest stories.

At FC Goods, that appreciation for baseball history inspires every handcrafted wallet and accessory we create.

Remembering Rocky Colavito.

Born August 10, 1933, Rocky Colavito became one of baseball’s most beloved sluggers, especially among generations of Cleveland fans. Over a 14-year MLB career, he earned nine All-Star selections, hit 374 home runs, and became the eighth player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a single game.

Colavito passed away peacefully at his home in Bernville, Pennsylvania, on December 10, 2024, at the age of 91. His impact went far beyond his numbers. From his powerful bat and legendary throwing arm to his deep connection with Cleveland, “The Rock” became a true baseball icon.

He was inducted into the Cleveland Guardians Hall of Fame in 2006, and a statue honoring him was unveiled in Cleveland’s Little Italy in 2021. His legacy continues to live on through the fans who watched him play and the generations who continue to remember his place in baseball history.

Rest in peace, Rocky Colavito. A legend remembered. A legacy that lives on.

Not all baseball gloves are built the same.

Every position on the field demands a different design. From the heavily padded catcher's mitt to the deep-pocketed outfielder's glove, each glove is crafted to help players perform at their best.

Here's a quick guide:

• Catcher's Mitt – Maximum protection for fast pitches.
• First Baseman's Mitt – Wide pocket for scooping throws and ground balls.
• Infielder's Glove – Built for quick transfers and fast reactions.
• Outfielder's Glove – Longer reach and a deeper pocket for securing fly balls.

While glove designs have evolved over the years, one thing has remained the same: quality leather built to last. At FC Goods, that same game-worn leather is given a second life as handcrafted wallets and accessories, preserving a piece of baseball history in every stitch.
