Hello everyone! As Black Friday and Small Business Saturday approach, I wanted to give you all an update on my life. This will be the first Black Friday that I haven’t had to work in a very long time! It’s kind of weird….but good!

Since I closed our retail store in June, I’ve been very busy. I immediately started the program for my masters degree in special education. Those classes have been going well. I currently have a 4.0 and am nearly 40% done with my degree. 🎉 I also passed my first Praxis test which was a big relief.

I’ve been teaching full-time at Roosevelt High School and I really love what I do! The first quarter of the school year was extremely challenging, but I’m finding a rhythm and getting things figured out. I even discovered that I LOVE teaching social studies. Who knew?!

In my person life, we finally set a date for our wedding! Aaron and I will be getting married 2/7/26 in a small family ceremony. Have I had time to plan for that? Not yet. But I’ll work on it during my Thanksgiving break, where I don’t have to work retail! And my girls are growing up so fast. 14 and 16 now…with my oldest graduating next year. 🥹 Time needs to slow down!

I originally kept my DART website running to try to sell remaning inventory online. I love teaching so much and have no desire to go back into retail selling, so I am going to let my website account lapse. The DART Boutique website will be deactivated on 12/12/25.

Well, we did it. We are all cleared out of the space. I wanted to take one final picture in here, but I couldn’t stop crying. (I’m an ugly crier, so this is the best photo I could get.) 🤪

As I sit here on the floor in our empty store, I can’t help but think of all the wonderful times we’ve had in here. I’m eternally grateful to my INCREDIBLE team who helped make this dream a reality. (And by the way, I’m typing this in between spats of sobbing.) 😭

I am excited for my next chapter, but I will truly miss this. More than anything, I will miss the people—interacting with all of our wonderful customers and joking around with my staff. There was so much life, love and laughter in this space. These great memories will remain with me forever. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🥰

I’m going to leave this page up. I’ll be taking a break from social media for a bit. But I’ll check in every once in a while and let you all know what’s going on in my world. If you see me out and about, please stop and say hi! Like I said, the connections I’ve made with so many of you are the thing I’ll miss most about owning DART Boutique.

For those of you wondering what my next chapter will be, this is it!

Tomorrow I start my classes at USD (online) for my Masters in Special Education. I have loved working at Roosevelt this past year and it reinforced my love of education. Luckily, I get to stay at RHS this fall, but as a Special Education teacher!

I have a LOT of learning ahead of me, but I am so excited to take on this new challenge and make this drastic pivot in my life. Going back to school at 43 is daunting, but I’m ready to give it a try!

I made it until 4:30 before the waterworks began. I thought I could keep it together. Nope. Tears started streaming and I couldn’t stifle them any longer.

To those of you who have been with me since the start of this journey and to our newest friends we’ve made while in The Bridges—I want to give my deepest thanks. Thank you for following this adventure of mine through social media. Thank you for lifting me up when I was down. Thank you for your friendship and your loyalty. We would not have made it this far without all of you.

To my wonderful staff—I’m sorry I couldn’t make this work longer than I did. You all know that I adore you and will be your lifelong friend! Thank you for your years of dedication to making DART an amazing place for everyone!

To my family—I’m sorry you had to see so many tears over the past few years. I hope you know how much I love you. Thank you for your patience with me and for letting me try this dream of mine.

Let me introduce you to the incredible Brittany. She has been our Team Lead at DART for several years now and she is dedicated, loyal, kind, intelligent, and such a hard worker! She knows what I need done without me asking her. She has been the most valuable asset to our team.

Now that we are winding down and closing the shop, this gal needs your help. She works for the school district but would love a part-time job that she could work weekends during the school year and basically full-time in the summer.
