Since I’m sharing everyone else’s posts about the Dayton Fair this morning, CHECK IT OUT!

All those empty racks I showed you a couple weeks ago in our “fair building mock-up”….yeah, they’re not empty any more!! ….there are even 2 more racks that don’t fit in the picture!

We’re excited for you to see everything!….and in other fun news, 3 weeks from today, Tuesday August 18th, we’ll be hosting a fashion show on the free stage!…should be pretty fun! Come Check it out (details coming as we get closer!)

Yesterday I shared the color palette that keeps us on track with everything we’ve chosen for our fall collection.

This is what that palette starts to look like.

It’s not just about color…it’s about texture too.

Cozy knits. Soft leather. Lace. Plaids. Copper. Weathered finishes. Denim. Natural fibers.

When all of those elements work together, you can mix and match pieces without having to think too hard about it. That’s how a collection starts to feel layered, timeless, and personal.

Every piece doesn’t have to match.

It just has to belong.

We can’t wait to show you the full collection at the Dayton Fair in just 3 weeks!

Every season at The Shop starts the same way…with a color palette. We find LOTS of things we love, but having a palette helps us to focus and w**d out what works from random things we simply like.

We’re now just over 3 weeks away from opening at the Dayton Fair, and this is the palette that’s guided almost everything we’ve selected.

The goal is simple: if we “play by the rules” (sometimes we do…sometimes not so much 😄), the pieces should work together. That means it’s easy to mix and match clothing, jewelry, and accessories into outfits that feel intentional instead of random.

I have to admit…this year we’ve done a pretty good job sticking to “the rules”!

We can’t wait to show you how it all comes together in just 22 days!

I’d LOVE to have a beautiful “after” picture to share…

But it’s been HOT 🥵…and the air quality has been awful, so progress has been a little slower than we’d hoped.

It turns out July is becoming the month of “behind the scenes,” because we’ve got A LOT of projects happening all at once. 😅

So instead of a beautiful new kitchen display…you get this….PROGRESS!

Walls are going up, boards are stained, and little by little it’s starting to come together.

It’s definitely not beautiful…yet.

But trust us…we think it’s going to be worth the wait. 🤍

Ok folks…we’re officially 34 days away from opening at the Dayton Fair! 😳 So I’d thought I’d share a little bit about what goes on to make it all happen….

That’s both incredibly exciting…and just a little terrifying!

To make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, we actually pre-build our entire fair building in the back of The Shop.

We’ve had the layout on paper for months. Now comes the fun part…finding out if it all actually works in real life!

We’ve got one month to fine-tune every detail—from where each display goes all the way down to the safety pins, batteries, tape, and all those little things you hope you never need…but always do.

The Shop will close at 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 15 and less than 24 hours later we’ll be open at the Great Dayton Fair by 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 16!

It’s Saturday morning….grab a cup of coffee…this one’s a little longer than usual…

Over the past few years, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what we want The Shop to be.

We’ve worked hard to curate not only the products we carry, but the experience of shopping at The Shop. Along the way, we’ve realized something that might surprise you…

There are a lot of things we know would sell - - - But we choose not to carry them.

That probably doesn’t sound like smart business. To us, it’s the right business.

Every item that finds its way into The Shop has to feel like it belongs. We don’t look at something and ask, “Will it sell?” We ask, “Does it fit the feeling we’re trying to create?”

Because we’re not just filling shelves.

We’re trying to help people create homes.

Somewhere along the way, we realized we had a philosophy. We just hadn’t put it into words yet:

“Homes shouldn’t be decorated — they should be collected.”

A collected home isn’t built in a weekend. It isn’t bought as a matching set. It’s gathered over time. It’s filled with pieces that mean something to you. Some are old. Some are new. Some are family heirlooms. Some are found on a Saturday afternoon when you weren’t even looking.

That’s the kind of home we love.

It’s also the kind of home we’re trying to help our customers create.

We’ll keep sharing the little things we’ve learned along the way. We hope a few of them inspire you as you create a home that’s uniquely yours. And if you’ve learned a few lessons of your own, we’d love to hear those, too.

🍴 We need your help!

So, we’ve got another big project we’re going to start into in the next couple of weeks: A complete refresh of our kitchen collection…and we’d love your ideas before we dive in.
