August’s Yard of the Month goes to Donna Gorencel at 701 Marburger St., our very own garden club member! Donna retired from Pennsylvania a year ago and resides with her brother and sister in law, Allen and Larissa Griffin. Larissa graciously gives all the gardening credit to Donna.
I first noticed changes to their landscape several years ago after the Griffin’s moved in and have enjoyed watching the transformation of their yard on my regular walks by. Over the past year the Texas native landscape has matured and unique natives have been added.
Donna has been gardening for 23 years and is currently enrolled in Texas A&M master gardener classes. Congratulations Donna and the Griffins from the Smithville Garden Club 💐

Garden Club Officers finalizing our calendar, speakers, pilgrimages and Tour of Homes in our July meeting this morning. Put the date on your calendars for November 14th Smithville’s Tour of Homes from 11-3. More information coming as the date gets closer…..
This is our annual fundraiser to support our beautification projects in community areas, awarding scholarships to High School seniors and focused resources towards the future in preserving our past through the Heritage House and Museum In Smithville.
