In 1999, I had been at Jonquil for less than a year. and were pretty generous with their MLB tickets, so we went as often as we could.
I was there to witness the insane Spider-Man catch! Never had I seen anything like it.
I remember innings later looking at the mark/hole his cleat had made in the wall padding. I could not believe I saw it live.
The next morning, I couldn’t wait to watch Sportscenter. I just knew it would be the lead (this was when Sportscenter showed highlights of the previous day, as opposed to random people giving opinions all day).

Got to work and was ready for the amazing play to show, so I could brag to anyone that would listen that I WAS THERE!
10:00am episode, no Andruw.
11:00 episode, same.
Continued all day! I never saw it until the following evening and it was almost an afterthought.

Possibly the greatest over-the-shoulder catch of all time and it was just overlooked.

He did stuff like that all the time, so why make a big deal…

To me, that’s what happened to this whole HoF run.
Greatest defensive center fielder to ever play the game, not to mention, his offensive numbers are nothing to laugh about.
He made it all look so easy that no one seemed to appreciate his game.

I could not believe happier for you, sir!
It saddens me that it took so long, but now you’re where you belong.
