🦚🌈✨This features 2026 Runway look "Royalty in Cardboard" look is by none other than three time Trashion designer, Kara McHale .

Kara used the cardboard packaging from the soda cans she used for her intricate outfits, 2025 " Joan of Arc" & 2024 "Kaleidoscope. "

You can see the original colorful packaging, lining the inside of her skirt,, while the outer side is painted vibrant, blues, luscious greens and bold indigos. The peacock feather eyes are lined in iridescent paint , taking a winged eye to a whole new level.

Thinking she’d need to transport this voluminous dress it became a construction puzzle. With her can-do attitude, she figured out how to build it in numbered pieces and panels, using yards of Velcro to attach them.
Topping it off is a peahen metallic headress, crowning her lush glory.

A feathered fan, for this bird, because she “just had to!"

🪡🪡🪡 Learn the technique of Sashiko mending in upcoming May 19th workshop from 5:30 -8 pm in the Fiber Arts Room !

With humble beginnings in rural Japan, Sashiko's running stitch insulated work garments for warmth and longevity. Learning this technique not only teaches you a skill, supports the reuse and circular economy but is also the coolest technique that you will see out there in upcycle designers and fiber artists these days.
Bring one or two garments if you wish to mend but not necessary. Supplies (thread, needles, thimbles, practice fabric, chalk, patterns and scraps) are provided and may take home needles and sashiko thread.
