The difference between polyester and natural fibers. If you're going to be around fire, polyester will melt, and will stick to you while it burns.
Cotton and wool do not catch fire easily. As an amateur fire spinner, I have all cotton clothing plus a cotton hat my friend knit for me specifically for my fire spinning tricks.

As for clothing, natural fibers also breathe better and still insulate without causing as much overheating. Polyester locks in everything- heat, moisture, etc.
