Michigan Modernism Exposition The Detroit Area Art Deco Society is a nonprofit organization. DESCRIPTION:
One of the top shows of its kind in the country featuring 20th century design.

This all-volunteer organization hosts a collection of events in order to increase awareness and celebrate the architecture in the Detroit metropolitan area. Fifty of the nations most prominent Modernism merchants will offer pieces designed by such greats as Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Herman Miller, Heywood Wakefield, the Stickley's, Salvador Dali and other designers’ works of the A

rt Deco, Art Nouveau, Prairie School, Arts and Crafts, Surrealistic and Neo-Classical schools of design. Additional design categories include industrial design, streamline, and prominent movements of the 50’s, 60’s and 1970’s. Join author Renee Tadey as she presents the history of Detroit's Polynesian Palaces & Tropical Cocktails!

When the South Sea craze swept over the nation in the mid-twentieth century, the wave of island-themed decor and tropical cocktails came to Detroit. Did you know that at the time of its completion in 1967, the Mauna Loa was the most expensive restaurant east of the Mississippi?

The Zoom presentation will last about one hour, and then we will have time for your questions.
