As Tree House has grown, I think it's time to clarify a little bit about how our shop works — and what you can expect when you visit us.
While we do have a store front and a small shopping area where you can browse blanks and choose items to customize, The Tree House is first and foremost a working production shop. Behind these doors we're printing, embroidering, designing, filling orders, answering emails, ordering inventory, doing machine maintenance, prepping vinyl for installs, and all the rest of all of the not-so-glamorous things that keep this little business moving.
Our storefront is an added convenience for our customers, but we aren't a traditional retail store that's designed to be open for shopping all day.
I'm always here outside of those hours working behind the scenes, but the doors may not always be open for walk-in traffic. I know firsthand that our storefront availability can sometimes be frustrating. You may stop by and find that we've stepped out, or see our cars outside while the doors are still locked. I completely understand how inconvenient that can feel, which is exactly why I want to do a better job of setting clear expectations moving forward.
11 AM–4 PM will be our dedicated walk-in storefront hours. The mornings before we open will give us uninterrupted time for production, artwork, quotes, emails, ordering and all of the behind-the-scenes work required to get your orders out the door in a timely manner.
We're also more than happy to arrange use of our curbside pickup/drop-off box when needed for customers who can't make it during those hours.
And on a more personal note — Tree House was built this way intentionally.
Treehouse was built around my family from the very beginning.
I started this business because I wanted to build something I loved without having to choose between running a business and being present for my kids. Their sports, practices, games, school events and everything that comes with raising them are part of the schedule around here. As this business has grown, that part of it hasn't changed — and it isn't going to.
There will be practices. Games. School events. Appointments. And occasionally there will be a sign on the door saying I've had to step out for a moment.
My kids will always come first.
I know that kind of flexibility isn't what every customer is looking for, and I genuinely understand that. The way we operate may not work for everyone, and I'm okay with that. What I don't want is for anyone to be surprised by it.
What I can promise is that I'll continue working incredibly hard on the orders entrusted to me, communicating as clearly as I can, accommodating when I'm able, and producing work I'm proud to put the Tree House name on.
I'm incredibly grateful that this little business has grown enough that setting these boundaries has become necessary. And I'm even more grateful for the customers who have supported not only Tree House, but the reason I built it this way in the first place.
So if you see my car outside at 8am but the door is locked…. I'm not ignoring you. 😂 I'm inside eyeball-deep in shirts, answering 87 emails, making phone calls, or convincing an embroidery machine to behave.
