Why are curtains hard? They’re just a rectangle right? 😂

And yet most sewists hate making them. Myself included.

Hard? No. Pain in the ass? Absolutely.

But we already had a sun shade sail thing that didn’t work how we wanted, so my hate of over consuming trumped my hate of curtains.

These little belt bags are going to be so dang cute. I can’t wait to create with new friends.

I’m teaching a class on how to make these little f***y packs at spokanezerowaste on August 30th, come have fun with me! It’s my first time teaching sewing so I’m sure it’ll be an adventure.

And the pheasant fabric was a textile sample that I wish I had more of! If anyone knows someone who actually bought curtains in that… steal them for me? 😂 but hoarder fabric stash for the win, amiright?

But seriously, how cute did this turn out? I baaaaaaarely got all of Bloomsday on there. I wish the B was a little more visible but hey, I have another shirt right?

Been a minute since I’ve made a Dayna pack, forgot how satisfying they are to sew.

Materials used: vintage (and holey) shirt, secondhand marine vinyl, and hardware I had on hand.

I found an outfit on Pinterest that I want to recreate, but of course, all the metal hardware was custom fabricated for the designer.

Aka, no way was I gonna find it for sale.

So, me being me, I spent a lot of time searching crazy stuff and digging through all kinds of hardware pieces until I found these double threaded bars that come in the same size as spikes.

Last step is to dremel off some of the threads so they don’t show and all you see is the smooth bar.

Who needs some spikes in their life? 🙋‍♀️

When I bought this sheet at an estate sale, I just saw the cute little flowers.

When I got home and put it in the wash, I discovered this adorable pattern on the cuff 😍😍 I love happy surprises like that.

I want to feature it on the pockets of this dress, but the stakes feel so high when I know I can’t get more!

I hate making muslins, but I once spent a ton of $ on a Star Wars border print fabric that was a custom order, and didn’t want to screw up.

So I actually made a muslin. But I wanted it to be pretty, so if it fit, I could wear it. But also, didn’t want to use nice fabric in case it didn’t work out.

And so began my love affair with vintage sheets 😂

I picked this beauty up at three years ago, made this dress, and then… it sat.

Until my lovely sister visited and asked if she could have it. So it’s finally getting finished and off to a new home ♥️

Just gotta pick out buttons and make button holes and she’s done!

I’m pretty sure my sewing machine is mad at me 😒 I haven’t struggled this much with a simple tote in AGES.

Tough love I guess.

But these cuties are off to a farm stand up the road tomorrow. Wish them luck!

Today my youngest’s teacher told me we should buy him some onesies with the little fold over sleeves. He loves to rub his head and face when he self-soothes but he scratching himself, and the sleeves can prevent that.

Of course, me being me was like, I am NOT buying all new onesies. So I dug some bamboo out of my stash and am sewing flaps to all his sleeves.

He’s gonna hate it, but his skin will be thankful.

Oh! Hey there. I suppose I should actually post something so my page isn’t barren.

Wondering what Lalochezia is? It’s me. And whatever I get up to crafting. Mostly sewing, yes, but occasionally drifting off into other things (thanks ADHD).

Most importantly, it’s my attempt to do two things: 1-do my part to repurpose materials (mostly textile) to keep them out of landfills. And 2-create awesome, OOAK pieces you’ll be excited to wear or use for a long time.

Because slow fashion rules and overconsumption is killing our planet.

Love you all. Excited to get back to making pretty things.

Oh! And Lalochezia means “the emotional relief gained by using indecent or vulgar language.” Which I do when crafting. A lot.
