Long time no sew! I've been very busy with life stuff and haven't sewn anything the last three weeks. Last night I decided too much time has passed and got back in my sewing room. These are three bandanas for my daughter's sweet dog, Princess Penny. I told her I'd make one for every holiday or season, so Halloween, fall and Thanksgiving--my favorite time of year--are up! I couldn't decide between the fun and the darkish Halloween prints, so I'm making both. I'll finish them tonight and send them to her this week. 🧡🎃 🧙‍♀️

I made a child's cape that matches the wizard/witch hat, and I seriously love it! It feels expensive, the weight is perfect. Prints with gold or silver metallic threads are my favorite, and I've gathered a lovely collection from across Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. They would be beautiful as tote bags, dresses or aprons, but none of those have felt right. After making this cape and hat, I know that this is the right project to show off these stunning prints.

I will make as many as I can before Halloween and plan to sell them for just over the cost of the material. The next set is going to be for a happy witch/wizard and will be ready next week.

The video is terrible because the implement holding my phone was too tall, and I couldn't hold up the cape high enough, but after a week of sitting on this, I decided to share it anyway. 😊

I made a quilted witch's hat! I selected a butterfly print with metallic gold thread, and the interior print is orange with gold metallic thread. I happen to have gold metallic thread and used that to quilt the outer fabric and then topstitch the finished piece. I can't express how happy I am with this 😊🧡 I am going to make a coordinating cape and then sell them as a set for a halloween costume. Im really having fun with this one 😊🧡

Sunday's sewing project, love these two prints together. This is a challenge project, one of six Get It Done projects I chose for 2026. Excited to see the end result on this one. Hint: Halloween costume 😃

As sewists often say, sewing is the first hobby, buying fabric is the second. Boy are they right about that! I love visiting shops and perusing pretty prints anywhere I go, and I'm always looking for prints that will work with aprons, dresses, and a variety of bags. I rarely sew for myself, but then I don't get to enjoy those prints, so two weeks ago I set out to make myself a fall collection consisting of a purse (small, just my size), phone wallet and card wallet. I am in love with how they look! I have the most fun making the wallets because they only use one long piece of fabric--I'm fascinated with the process, and have made several of these for gifts. The purse was a new pattern for me, and while I like it, the next one will have more structure and slightly longer handles. I am driven to create pretty and practical things, and I'm so happy I get to enjoy these :-)

Check out my beautiful grand-puppy :-) This pretty girl lives in TN with my daughter, but we are both from St. Louis and will always support our hometown teams. A few weeks ago while making a bandana for her, I discovered that I had just enough Cardinals fabric to make this for her. This was a surprise for my daughter, and she immediately put it on Princess Penny. Now she can represent our favorite baseball team :-)

The florals have metallic gold threads running through them, a detail I love so much that I have a pretty good collection of prints with either gold or silver metallic threads 😍
