WILLED Fall ’26 is about the stories people leave behind. Helen Coffer Hawn willed nearly 1,500 acres to Missouri; Don Robinson left his wooded sanctuary to the state; and geologist John S. Brown used his own money to buy acres surrounding Elephant Rocks to protect it from being mined. Jacob and Henry Babler gave the state 88 acres in memory of their brother Edmund. Route 66 State Park it occupies the former site of the town Times Beach, returned to public recreation after a major dioxin cleanup (a video on that coming soon 😝).
With colder days and changing leaves here, we’ve got new tees, sweatshirts, waffle knits, and beanies for the season. As we enjoy this fall weather, let’s also take a second to be grateful for the people who left these places behind for us and for the continual efforts of our state park systems that keep everything so damn BEAUTIFUL. 🍁
