Talk about iconic! This WWII stencil was used on post war supplies and goods destined for Europe as part of the reconstruction program. The clasps hands symbol of fellowship has been used for thousands of years. This stencil is a piece of our history when we were at our very best. Fernware in a 19th century Scottish technique where a craftsperson laid actual pressed fern fronds onto a light colored sycamore wood. They then sprayed or stenciled dark brown or reddish brown pigment over the wood leaving a clean silhouette of the fern when the leaves were removed. This souvenir box is a rare survivor of the process. It was just added to our online shop. Link in bio.
