Before Bloc Head was fashion shows, vendors, and community events, it was three hair and makeup artists who believed creative people deserve a place to create.

As we’ve grown, that foundation hasn’t changed.

It’s important to us that hair, makeup, and nail artists have the opportunity to be front and center, collaborating with designers and bringing their own creative vision and energy to every look.

The designers may create the concept, but it’s the artists behind the chair, the makeup station, and the nail table who help those ideas evolve, transform, and come alive.

We’ve always believed that creative communities grow when people share ideas, support one another, and create together.

Collaboration over competition.

Well… mostly.

We do happen to host a live hair and makeup competition and when that starts, all bets are off. 🎲

Last year backstage was running on extension cords, dry shampoo, and a whole lot of flash lights.

Every time a flat iron got plugged in, the breaker tripped.

It was dark. It was hot. It was unpredictable.

Meanwhile, the hair and makeup artists were back there absolutely slaying.

And this year?

Bigger space. Better lighting. More outlets.
