Lavender penguins may not exist, but the penguins that do are being increasingly threatened by global climate change.

A recent study* found that 70% of emperor penguin colonies in Antarctica could become extinct by 2050 if the current rate of sea ice loss continues and that 98% of colonies could be wiped out by 2100.

This Earth Day, consider donating to the World Wildlife Fund or other conservation charities to help the fight against climate change and to turn the tide on habitat loss for animals around the globe.

I thought I should take a second to introduce myself as the person behind the penguin, so to speak. 🐧✍🏽💜

My name is Alex, and I’m the creator and owner of The Lavender Penguin. 👋🏽☺️👩🏾‍🦱

Penguins are my favorite animal and purple is my favorite color - can you tell? I’m also passionate about animal welfare and conservation. 🌲🌏🌊

Other fun facts:
- I have two pets, a Maine C**n (cat) and a Silky Terrier. 🐶🐱
- I love gardening! I grow fruits and veggies outside in the summertime and tend to my orchid and succulent collection year round.🍓🪴👩🏽‍🌾
