One of the most persistent myths about The Wizard of Oz (1939) is the story of a “munchkin” who supposedly hung himself on set — seen in the background of the forest scene in the original VHS Tape. MGM later the edited a large bird in place of the supposed silhouette to make the set look more “alive.”

Even though this is a myth, the conditions of filming were still brutal. Judy Garland (Dorothy) was only 16, forced onto strict diets, given stimulants to stay awake, and sedatives to sleep. The Tin Man’s first actor, Buddy Ebsen, was hospitalized after aluminum powder in his makeup poisoned his lungs. Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch) suffered severe burns when her makeup caught fire during a stunt.

Several cast members’ health was damaged for life, and Garland’s struggles, in part rooted in how she was treated on this film, tragically ended with her passing in 1969.

This films hides a much darker reality — a glimpse at how harsh Hollywood was in its golden age!

The Ruff Ryders were more than just a record label—they were a full-fledged hip-hop lifestyle movement. Founded in the late 90s by Joaquin “Waah” Dean, Darin “Dee” Dean, and Chivon Dean, Ruff Ryders Entertainment became home to some of the biggest East Coast rap acts of the era, including DMX, Eve, The LOX, Drag-On, and Swizz Beatz. Their music was raw, gritty, and street-driven, matched by a distinct visual identity.

The gear was just as iconic as the music—oversized leather motorcycle jackets, bold “R” logos, and chrome-style lettering became symbols of loyalty and toughness. Ruff Ryders apparel often featured heavy embroidery, racing stripes, and biker-club influences, reflecting the crew’s deep ties to street bike culture. Rocking Ruff Ryders gear in the early 2000s wasn’t just about fashion—it was a way to show you rode with the movement, whether you were on two wheels or just repping the brand in the streets.

This blend of music, fashion, and bike culture helped Ruff Ryders become a cultural staple, leaving a legacy that still resonates in vintage hip-hop style today.

Throwback to working with two of the goats in the vintage game. Being around them gave me the inspiration and hunger to chase this full-time and that’s when everything changed for me. That spark pushed me to drop out of school and go all-in on vintage. It hasn’t been easy, but just over a year later, I now own a six-figure business in downtown Statesboro doing what I love and I’m just getting started. Forever grateful for these guys. ♻️❤️

Before the highlights, before the signature dunks, Julius Erving was just a kid tearing up blacktops at Rucker Park.

They called him “The Claw.” Long arms, smooth handle, and flight that made the crowd climb fences just to get a glimpse.

From Harlem to UMass — where he averaged 26 & 20 without even finishing all 4 years — the Doctor was in. No cameras. No internet. Just legends passed through word of mouth.

Then came the ABA. Then came the fro. Then came Philly.

Julius Erving didn’t just join the league — he brought the streets with him.

This wasn’t just basketball. It was poetry above the rim.
