This isn’t about rushing.
It’s about being intentional.
If you listen closely, you’ll hear why the process matters just as much as the outcome. Sewn Adaptive was never created to be performative or trendy it exists to make a real difference, especially within the sewing community.
True inclusion means designing with disabled bodies, not as an afterthought. It means refusing to treat accessibility as optional or secondary. It means holding space for able-bodied and disabled designs to exist side by side, with equal care, value, and visibility.
Until these spaces genuinely include everyone, including people with disabilities, I will continue to design this way. Not faster. Not louder. Just with purpose.
Because equality isn’t symbolic.
It’s built, stitched, tested, and respected.

🎙 Threads Magazine Podcast — “Adaptive Sewing”
Featuring Sewn Adaptive with Lynn Brannelly

In this clip, I talk about one of my favorite adaptive alteration moments — creating a vinyl insert design for my friend , founder of , that keeps her white suit sleeves pristine and stylish. ✨

It’s these kinds of thoughtful, functional details that drive everything I do at — designing for real life, real people, and real movement.

This conversation with Threads Magazine dives deep into how adaptive sewing transforms both fit and confidence.
I’m manifesting even bigger stages ahead — like designing for the 2028 Paralympics here in Los Angeles. 🙌

🧵 Adaptive Style Matters 🧵

I’m proud to have contributed to this recent New York Times Wirecutter article on adaptive clothing and alterations — highlighting how thoughtful design and customization make fashion more inclusive for everyone.

At Sewn Adaptive, I specialize in adapting garments for function, comfort, and confidence — from reworking seams and closures to seated-fit tailoring and accessibility-driven details. Adaptive design isn’t about limitation; it’s about creativity, problem-solving, and making clothing that truly works for every body.

Today marks a significant moment for me. Where I am today, almost didn’t happen.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Lynn and I’m the owner of Sewn Adaptive.

I’ve always been someone who prefers working behind the scenes. As a neurodivergent person, the spotlight has never felt natural—and I know I’m not alone in that. It’s one of the reasons why being a costume designer and wardrobe stylist for film and television has been so rewarding. You’re not looking at me—you’re looking at what I’ve created.

But over the last eight months, Sewn Adaptive has faced some real challenges—ones that pushed me out of the background and required me to show up more fully, more visibly, and more vocally. I’ve had to put myself out there and share not just what I do, but why I do it.

Sewn Adaptive exists to make a difference. That’s always been the heart of it. Success for me isn’t measured by what’s in my bank account—it’s measured by the impact this work has on people’s lives.

I’m proud of how far this journey has come, and I’m genuinely excited about what’s ahead. New opportunities, deeper partnerships, and meaningful growth are all on the horizon—and they’re rooted in the foundation I’ve been building, day by day.

Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for supporting this work. And thank you for being part of a more inclusive future.

At , I specialize in adaptive alterations and custom apparel tailored for people with disabilities. This work is rare—and deeply personal.

Because there are so few of us doing this kind of work, my schedule fills up quickly (which I’m so grateful for!).

Current availability for new appointments is the end of July—so if you’re planning adaptive needs for summer or fall, now is the time to book.

All appointment requests go through the website: www.sewnadaptive.com – link in bio!

When submitting your request, please be clear about what you need adapted or created, include your project deadline, and feel free to upload any photos or inspiration. A follow-up with a quote will be sent.

Thank you for being part of this growing, inclusive community.

I’m excited to share my latest tutorial from Sewn Adaptive! One of the most common requests I receive is from wheelchair users who find that ready-to-wear pants often have a front rise that’s too long, leading to uncomfortable fabric bunching when seated. In this video, I’ll demonstrate how to shorten the front rise, eliminating excess fabric and achieving a smooth, flattering fit. Stay tuned for more tutorials on adapting your wardrobe to meet your needs. : The Instagram handle is associated with Lynn Brannelly, the qowner of Sewn Adaptive.
