Most families can point to a moment when everything started to feel different. It usually wasn’t because life suddenly became easier. It was because one woman decided that what happened to her wouldn’t be the whole story anymore.
She learned to apologize when no one had apologized to her. She chose presence over perfection. She questioned the things everyone else accepted without question. She loved her children in ways she had spent years wishing someone had loved her.
The next generation may never fully understand what she carried or what she had to unlearn. They’ll simply grow up believing that home has always felt this safe.
They’ll never know someone had to build that from scratch.
