Freelancer here, factory there, consultant somewhere else.

That's how most brands end up building.

One partner across design, sourcing, fit, and production catches the mistakes that fall through the cracks between vendors. How?

Swipe through to see what that actually looks like. DM us if your process could use fewer handoffs.

If you haven't done this with your sample, you're not done reviewing it. 👀

Turn it inside out.

Check every seam. Make sure all your threads are clipped. Look at how clean the sewing is. Confirm the labels are in the right place. Make sure everything on the inside actually matches your tech pack.

It sounds obvious but it's one of the most skipped steps in sample review, and it's where a lot of quality issues hide.

Honestly, once you start doing it you won’t stop.

Save this as a reminder for your next sample review.

These 5 red flags in your line plan will cost you in Q4 (most brands don’t see them until it’s too late):

🚩 Overbuying based on optimistic forecasts
Your forecast is not your sales plan. Buying to your ceiling instead of your floor means you're funding inventory that might sit.

🚩 Locking fabric and colorways too late
Mills have minimums and calendars. If you're still finalizing your colorway story 6 months out from delivery, you're already behind.

🚩 Underestimating production lead times
The timeline your factory gave you is their best case. Add holidays, material delays, QC holds, and shipping variability, and you're looking at a very different picture.

🚩 Skipping fit validation before production
A fit issue caught in a pre-production sample costs you time. The same issue caught after bulk production costs you money, customer returns, and brand trust.

🚩 No buffer for revisions or delays
Every line plan needs breathing room. If your schedule has zero slack, one vendor hiccup wipes out your Q4 window entirely. A two-week buffer built in early saves you a month of scrambling later.

If you're looking at your line plan right now and feeling some of this, the window to fix it is still open. It just won't be open for long.

DM us or hit the link in bio. We'll help you find the gaps before Q4 finds them for you.

Production timelines are where optimism meets reality. (Too harsh?)

Sample approval takes longer than expected.
Factories run on their own schedule.
QC flags things at the worst possible moment.
Shipping has opinions too.

But none of this means your launch is doomed! It means you need a plan that accounts for reality, not the version you're hoping for.

This parka has a lot going on.

Chest pockets, button placket over a zip, ribbed cuffs, a structured hood.

Details like that can easily make a jacket feel heavy and overcrowded. What keeps it from tipping over is the fit through the body. Clean through the torso, enough room in the sleeve to layer without bulk.

Knowing when to add details and when to hold back is most of the job.

Not every piece in your line needs to do the same job. 👗👚

Trend pieces drive buzz. Anchor pieces drive repeat purchases. Hybrid pieces do both. The brands with healthy inventory know which category they're designing before they start.

Swipe for a breakdown of all three, and what intentional design strategy looks like in practice.

Here’s the quickest way to price your apparel product.👇

Start with the retail price you want to sell at.
Divide it by 5.
That's your target factory cost.

Working the other way?
Take your factory cost and multiply it by 5.
That's the retail price that keeps your margins healthy.

That one number gives you room to grow from DTC to wholesale without having to rethink your entire pricing structure when you get there.

Save this one. It'll come in handy.

Fact: This Orange Parka designed for Abercrombie & Fitch back in 2009 was already well underway by the middle of June.

That goes for every piece that actually hits shelves on time come November and December.

Seasonal planning isn't about thinking ahead for the sake of it. It's about having enough runway to get it right.
