It really is cool to see just how much better my skills for spotting are and general bird knowledge has grown.

Cuddy Park is one of my favorite spots to stop while passing through Anchorage. A little hidden gem in the center of towering skyscrapers. If you haven't ever popped in, I would highly recommend, especially in late May, and June.

Added the 174th species of the year to my list this weekend. While out for a much needed r&r away from town, an entire sibling group of Spruce Grouse meandered right past our camp.
I kneeled down as close as I could without disturbing them and got some incredible shots. Their plumage is so beautiful. Pictures don't do them justice.

Birds amaze me more and more every day. While Magpie pellets do not usually consistent of bones and fur, (although they can on occassion) they do contain many other non-digestible food items, such as insect exoskeletons, hard seeds, and fruit pits. It is now on my list of missions to find one of these pellets!

You guys, I even had my camera in my hands this morning.. 🤦‍♀️
Surf Scoter are a seabird that are usually found on the coastlines, but will turn inland for breeding season. This is the first time I have seen one on this particular lake.
