A pretty kitchen towel is lovely. One you reach for every day? That’s a keeper.

This Samuel Lamont towel has been working in my kitchen for at least a year, drying dishes, drying hands, and cleaning up the spills that come with actually cooking at home.

Made in Portugal from 100% cotton, it’s a kitchen workhorse and one of my favorite recommendations. Sometimes the things we use the most deserve a little spotlight!

The second-best food tour in America, right in our backyard! Tasteofthomasvillefoodtour

This past weekend, 20 of us from The Prepared Table headed to Georgia in two groups for the Taste of Thomasville tour, voted No. 2 Best Food Tour in the nation by USA Today.

We walked, tasted, learned a little history, and enjoyed the dishes that make Thomasville so special. But my favorite part? Having time to talk, laugh, and get to know one another along the way.

A shared love of food gives us a wonderful place to start. Experiences like these give those connections room to become friendships.

That’s something I love about our little Tallahassee kitchen shop. The community we’re building reaches beyond our kitchen island, and sometimes takes us on a delicious adventure together!

Anyone else forever picking their kitchen towel up off the floor?

Here’s a little peek into my kitchen and a simple trick I love: an S hook on the cabinet handle beneath my sink, plus a curtain ring with a clip. Clip on a pretty kitchen towel, and it’s right where I need it.

No sliding off the oven door or dishwasher handle, and it’s easy to unclip when it’s time for a fresh one.

Being a kitchen shop owner means I’m always finding another towel I’d like to bring home. This gives me a good place to enjoy it!

The guest bathroom deserves a pretty little detail, too.

I love using our tiny tea towels as napkins, but lately I’ve found another favorite spot for them: a little stack beside the bathroom sink!

Each guest gets a fresh towel to dry their hands, then drops it into a basket I’ve hung from the towel hook. Easy to use, easy to collect for washing, and a touch of whimsy in a room that often gets overlooked.

Hospitality doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s simply thinking about what would make someone feel comfortable in your home.

Owning a little kitchen shop is not for the faint of heart.

Some days I think I have the best job in the whole world. Other days I wonder what on earth possessed me to open a retail store.

There are boxes to unpack, inventory to count, bills to pay, displays to rearrange, and approximately 47 things on my to-do list.

But then a customer comes in and tells me about a recipe she made, a gift she gave, or a gathering she hosted, and I remember exactly why I opened The Prepared Table.

Seven years later, it’s still a little bit of everything.

To my fellow small business owners, please tell me I’m not the only one!

For the Quick Bread Baker in Your Life

One of my favorite things in the shop is also one of the hardest workers at my kitchen sink.

I was washing dishes and thought, “I need to show you all this!” The Euro Scrubby is one of those simple little things that makes everyday cleanup easier.

It helps tackle stuck-on food without scratching, so you can scrub without reaching for something harsh. Always follow your cookware’s care instructions, especially for specialty finishes.

Our cooking classes are intentionally small, with just eight or nine guests gathered around the island. You can see every step, ask questions, taste something delicious, and learn the little details that recipes do not always tell you.

We invite local chefs, makers, and bakers to teach everything from cookie decorating and freshly milled bread to cast-iron cooking, beautiful desserts, and dishes inspired by kitchens around the world.

But our classes are about more than learning a recipe. We want you to leave feeling confident enough to invite someone over, prepare something wonderful, and gather the people you love around your table.
