I love a beautiful cookbook, but I want it to become more than something that simply sits on a shelf.
Whenever I bring home a new one, I make a cup of coffee and read it from cover to cover. As recipes stand out, I write the name and page number on a Post-it, then organize those notes by section inside the front cover.
Later, when I’m planning dinner, making a grocery list, or choosing a menu for guests, I already have a collection of ideas waiting for me.
It takes a little time upfront, but it turns a cookbook into something I actually return to again and again.
We carry a thoughtfully chosen collection of cookbooks at The Prepared Table, including books filled with recipes you will want to make, share, and build menus around. Stop by the shop and let us help you find one worth cooking through.
Do you read your cookbooks from cover to cover, or do you jump straight to the recipes?
Save this idea for the next cookbook you bring home.
