Over all the years, I’ve often wondered what I’d say when this time came...and to be honest, now that it’s here, I’m still not exactly sure!
So I’ll just jump right in...
It is official, we are closing our Brick + Mortar location in Downtown Taylor.
[read to the end for more details on our future plans and hours for the next few weeks]
This has not been an easy decision AT ALL, but the feeling + desire for something different in my life has been front + center for quite sometime. After a lot of thought, many prayers and some newly opened doors, I have decided that it is indeed time for the next chapter in my life.
It’s really hard to wrap up into one post what these past 10+ years of Frills have meant to me, but here it goes!
Frills has…
first and foremost, given me the opportunity to meet + know so many of you! Let’s get real, the shop would not have been a staple in Downtown Taylor for almost 24 years without all of y’all and your continued support! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to serve and get to know each and every one of you!
has been my identity [it’s honestly so weird to think about who I will be without Frills front and center in my life]. It has no doubt defined + shaped the first part of my adult life.
It has built me up, dragged me down, challenged me, taught me how to pivot/ adapt (the COVID years especially), exhausted me, and also given me some of the best times and tons of experiences!
has seen me very pregnant with both kids. It has been the place where they have grown up, learned how to work a register and played while I worked. The hours were crazy and never-ending some days, but It allowed flexibility I couldn’t have found anywhere else.
Frills has also allowed me to show my kids what hard work, determination and following a dream looks like- the fun and not so fun parts of it! [I’ll let them decide if and how they use their experiences down the road].
It has allowed me to be creative and do what I love!
It has given us so many awesome employees who became part of our crazy family in no time!
And it has given me some pretty great “small business owner friends”. Along with that came the opportunity to collaborate and collectively build up the downtown shopping district. So proud of what we’ve all accomplished over the years!
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is— Its been an amazing and fun ride! One that I am forever thankful and grateful for!
Thank You to Mary Linda Hays for hiring me all those years ago and for trusting us to carry on Frills! Our many years on 4th + Talbot were some of the best!
Thank You to Douglas Moss and Public Sketch for such a beautiful space on the corner of 2nd + Main. The past 3 years in this location have been a dream!
Thank you to my Facebook-less husband, Adam and to my Dad, Gary, for always helping with the heavy lifting + buildouts! Y’all have always come through and made time for my crazy and sometimes unnecessary projects!
Thank You to my family + friends for all the support… whether it was shopping with us, listening to me vent or helping me buy or scheme the next big thing!
Also, Craig- your short stint as ‘Security’ was a great one! Thanks for all your hard work! 😜
And last but not least…thank you to my family business partners, Sharon and Brooke, for all the years full of support, fun, and craziness!
Our official last day on the corner of 2nd + Main is Saturday, May 13th.
Our schedule for the next few weeks…
Week of April 17th - OPEN W-F 11-5
Week of April 24th - OPEN W-F 11-5
****Last 2 Days - Week of May 1st - OPEN FRIDAY + SATURDAY ONLY 11-5****
*our schedule/ store hours are subject to change-we will update this information on our social accounts as needed.
✨✨✨✨✨FYI : It’s not goodbye forever... we will still have our space inside MAKS Mercantile in Salado. Go ahead and give MAKS a like/follow to stay in the loop! I plan to revamp our space there and our online store early this Summer… so stay tuned for more details on that! ✨✨✨✨✨
Thank you again for all the fun and memories in Downtown Taylor! 💕
Big Hugs,
Ashley, Brooke and Sharon
