🌊 Dawn of a New Tide 🌊

This small 11x15 inch piece began the way many of my paintings do—not with a plan, but with a feeling.

Dawn of a New Tide is a textured mixed-media painting inspired by the quiet promise that comes with new beginnings. The soft blues, seafoam greens, sandy whites, and hints of sunlight reflect the moments just before the ocean fully awakens. That peaceful space between what was and what will be.

I wanted this painting to feel like standing on the shoreline at sunrise, watching the waves roll in after a long storm. The thick layers and rugged textures represent the challenges, heartbreaks, setbacks, and lessons that shape us. Some areas are rough and uneven, while others flow gently together—much like life itself.

Embedded shells and beach-inspired elements along the shoreline symbolize treasures left behind by the tide. The ocean has a way of carrying things away while also bringing unexpected gifts to shore. I think healing often works the same way. We release what no longer serves us, and in time, discover something beautiful waiting in its place.

As I worked, I found myself thinking about resilience, growth, and the courage it takes to keep moving forward even when the path isn’t clear. Every layer tells a story. Every texture holds a memory. Every brushstroke became part of a larger journey.

For me, Dawn of a New Tide represents hope. It represents trusting that even after difficult seasons, a new wave of possibility is always on the horizon. It is a reminder that beginnings don’t have to be loud or dramatic. Sometimes they arrive quietly, like the first light touching the water at dawn.

This painting is an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember that no matter where you are in your journey, every day offers the chance for a fresh start. The tide always returns, and with it comes the opportunity to begin again.
