Chemeketa Community College Native Heritage Month Celebration

I had the pleasure to attend my colleges celebration for Native American heritage month. They had Chemawa Indian School present many different styles of dance along with different tribes traditions. It was amazing to see how many people attended and were impacted by the event.

100th Annual Ellensburg Rodeo and Fair
September 1st-3rd, 2023
It was beautiful to see how many Yakama’s went out for the 100th annual rodeo! I tried to participate in every event they had planned, so I did the parade with Little Miss Treaty Day Princess and Treaty Day Princess Saturday morning. Then later that afternoon I rode down the hill, and danced at the Village’s pow wow. I’m very thankful that Tess French and Darwin Sockzehigh let me ride their horse Phillip!!

Tiinawit Program Pow Wow

On Wednesday this week my family and I participated in the Tiinawit Pow Wow both dancing and being a vendor!! I was able to see many smiling faces and laughs. It was a great community event!

Wapato Head Start First Day Of School!!

On Monday I was able to read to teacher Adonis, teacher Renee and Teacher Arlene’s classes!! It was fun to see all the kids enjoying their first day of classes with their amazing teachers. I hope they all have a great school year!!
