Background: Devonna Smith, a native of St. Louis created, manufactured and marketed her own product line See Me I Am Human Too, June 2020 after experiencing racism and injustices in places she once considered safe. She became helpless with the onslaught of senseless attacks and killings, after having to fear for her own life. Looking back on the terrifying situations in those moments of uncertainty, Devonna wishes she could have screamed See Me I Am Human Too! It was at that moment the brand was created. While See Me started out as a clothing/product line, giving a voice to those who are overlooked and unheard is extremely Important.

The De’Andre Buckner 21 Strong Scholarship we will give scholarships to those who personifies what De’Andre stood for, which is hard work, integrity and love for others. What makes this scholarship unique is that is it open to anyone pursing a higher level of education, not just college but also from looking to attend trade school. The application process is also unique, as your traditional essays will not be a requirement. It is encouraged that those applying submit a body of work such as short film, clothing line, song or story that best represents their dreams, who they are, what has shaped them and how they would like to be Seen by the World.
