Not every outing needs to be an expedition.

Found this gem of a spot not 5 minutes from my folks house.

The smallest backpack made by HOWDY! still fits the iPad // notebook // water bottle // snacks.

It’s almost easier to design a $300 backpack with all the features. Designing for $100, and delivering a super functional pack, is something I’m quite proud of.

Production round one is almost sold out. I’ll be Travelers Rest Farmers Market this weekend, come take a look at the last two. Loads of new colors Indie Craft Parade l Makers Collective in September
Custom colors of your choosing always available.

Ya know, backpacks are a high value bag. So capable and ready for adventure, they are, by far, my favorite bag style.

Making a school backpack, and inviting the kids to design and help sew their bag, is a transformative experience. They get to choose the colors (kids love to make decisions), and learn how to safely and confidently use tools. Each time they pick up their bag, I hope it’s a little reminder that they are capable, creative people with something to say.

New style, debuts Indie Craft Parade l Makers Collective with loads of features!

-Flap closure with access zipper
-Dual XL side pockets for snacks, water bottle, bulky items
-Dual pleated front zipper pockets. They lay flat when empty, and grow to keep your load from eating into interior space
-Front slip pockets - full bag height, fits a three ring binder
-Interior laptop sleeve - even the chunky school computers fit
-Seriously good straps with dual density foam and a refined ergonomic shape. Sternum strap keeps even the heaviest loads stable and comfy to carry.
-Made slowly, with the best materials available, to create a one of a kind, super capable backpack for your next adventure!

Still sewing, but everything else is always changing.

Moved out of the Woodside studio and into a collaborative shop space with my Dad. One half woodworking, one half sewing. Stoked on the opportunity to jam with my pops, but I do miss old 1115.

Putting together a few workshops for this fall, once the kiddos are back in school. Prepping for Indie Craft in September - get ready for all the backpacks, including this little number!

Just found out I was featured in Crafted With Pride again this year. It’s the best reference for quality gear, made in the US, and it’s such an honor to be a part of that community. If you buy gifts for people, this book is your secret weapon to find the good good.

Shine on out there, and don’t let the naysayers bring ya down.

Hot take - BAGS ARE THE OLDEST CRAFT.

I’m ready to fight anyone who dares to say otherwise this weekend.
