We are a small boutique, in historic Troy, NY, that specializes in artisan cold process soaps. Our soaps are made from scratch, in small controlled batches, using only the highest quality ingredients. Treat yourself to a bar today and see why cold process soaps are a wonderful cleanser for any type of skin. Have fun browsing our large variety of traditionally made soaps, soy candles, lotions, and

other goodies. While I use traditional methods to create my body products, I add a modern twist by incorporating different types of fragrances and colorants. You will find a wide range of fragrances- from traditional lavender & oatmeal to more "pop" scents like ginger ale, cotton candy & oatmeal stout. I use natural ingredients like turmeric, clay, parsley, activated bamboo charcoal & beet root to color my soaps. All of these are thought to have additional skin benefits. My soaps are luxurious, but affordable. They are healthy- I use only high quality ingredients- all of which are paraben & sulfate free. Tested only on friends & family most of my products can be considered 100% natural. Made in small controlled batches, customers often enjoy coming in my shop & watching me make my products. I love seeing the joy on their faces when they get excited about different fragrances. I also carry fine art & crafts by local artists. This allows me to support my community & bring more beauty to the world. WHAT'S THE BEST BUSINESS ADVICE YOU'VE RECEIVED? I have been lucky to be surrounded with many people in believe in me. They are a lot of my drive and motivation as I want to show them that you can be successful in whatever you choose to do! I was told early on to surround myself with those who believe in you. Sometimes when people see your success they will try and be negative to make themselves feel better. Don't listen to them! I am a teacher at heart and I KNOW we learn the best from experience. Even if something doesn't work out quite right- you still learn from it. Don't give up and don't give in.

One of our favorite scents year-round, Mango Tango combines tropical mango and guava with green melon and juicy pineapple. This beautiful bar gets its gorgeous color from turmeric. 💛

Speaking of summer. I’m taking a quick girls’ trip with my nieces to unplug, recharge, and just breathe for a little bit. 💜

Being a small business owner is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be exhausting. I absolutely love T&J Soaps, my customers, and our city, but lately I’ve been feeling a little worn down. I’ve realized I need to step away for a few days & refill my cup before I run myself completely empty.

So if you don’t hear back from me right away, please know it’s nothing personal. I’m intentionally putting my phone down and taking a little break from messages, emails, and the day-to-day hustle. I know many of you are used to hearing back from me quickly. I desperately need this break and to be present with my favorite littles.

The shop will be open regular hours with Jennie at the helm, so come see her while I’m away!

I’ll be back Friday and ready to get back to slinging soaps and I’ll be sticking around late for Troy Night Out!

Garment Quality Control - Steam / Pressing, Sewing Machine Operator (Apparel Design )

Join our eco design company as the primary production Quality Control Inspector and Finisher. Our ideal candidate is passionate about producing quality goods, has an eye for details, ability to memorize design specs, follow directions well and thrive doing repetitive work. This position requires a keen sense of quality, design, and understanding of garment construction. Operational knowledge of industrial sewing machines including, 4-thread overlock serger, industrial straight stitch, merrow machine and cover stitch is a plus. We work in a friendly team environment producing wearable art clothing, and accessories. The right candidate will have the opportunity to work with designer. Must have excellent communication skills and positive attitude.

Position requirements:
Ability to steam for 4-7 hours per day
Perform duties in a quick, timely fashion
Strong understanding of garment construction and patterns
Strong problem resolution
Quality control: Inspect, repair and resolve issues
Maintain, clean, and organize work space.
Steam, finish, tag, and price final product
Support team to meet production deadlines
Maintain a positive attitude and excellent communication with designer
Communicate in English
Self motivated

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years garment experience
Experience as seamstress a plus
Apparel design education / experience is a plus
High school diploma or equivalent
Detail-oriented, ability to follow instructions, be reliable and work independently
Punctual and regular attendance

Applicants must successfully pass ‘in person’ assessment as follows:
Interview with designer
In person steaming and sewing knowledge test. Bring samples of your work.

No soap post today, but instead, I wanted to share an old oil painting I made for my father.

I know many of you, including myself, are sad about the loss of Jackie from Big Bear Eagles Jackie & Shadow. Many of us projected human emotions onto this beautiful wild animal, including me. I was aware but did it anyways. Their livestream began in 2015, but I think many of us found them during COVID lockdown, when we needed something beautiful to connect us. Many of us made up a love story. I'm fine with that because it helped spread knowledge about these beautiful creatures.

Jackie and Shadow brought so many people together. People that don't always agree or see the world the same way. I think that's pretty special.

Jackie will continue to live on, not only in the memories of the millions of people who watched her, but also through the Indigenous Peoples she will be rightully returned too through the National Eagle Repository. Living on through traditions that honor and respect her. That is incredibly beautiful.

I don't know the specific Tribe she will be going home too, otherwise I would acknowledge.

Under U.S. federal law and standard wildlife protocols, deceased bald & golden eagles are transferred to the National Eagle Repository in Colorado. They distribute the eagle feathers & parts to enrolled members of federally recognized Indigenous Tribes for sacred, religious, and cultural ceremonies.

Inspired by Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, passion & pleasure, this handcrafted soy candle is topped with one or two high quality tumbled rose quartz crystals. Each stone is unique and hand chosen. Annick Designs gets me the best to work with, then I choose each one, clean it, and infuse love when dressing the candle with it.

And the fragrance? Absolutely gorgeous. Bright bergamot, orange & grapefruit blend with delicate rose petals and jasmine, finished with warm sandalwood & soft musk. It’s a modern, elegant rose scent. It's not overly sweet or old-fashioned (not your grandmother's rose).

Each candle is made with 100% natural soy wax and has about a 45 hour burn time. Hand-poured and dressed with love in Troy, NY.

When your candle is finished, keep the rose quartz as a little reminder of love, compassion & beauty. 💗
