Dolly Parton was a soul for the people. No matter who you were, how you looked, your religion, gender, or race. She was a shining light for the world to see that you could do anything, be anything, and never let other’s opinions stop you. She empowered us to be the best of ourselves and to do it with a smile. An icon to women. An icon to the working class. An icon to the south. An American icon. An icon to the flamboyant. An icon to the humble and loving. An icon to artists. She is everything that was good about this world.

As I look at my arm, I see a portrait of Dolly Parton tattooed there. Seeing her iconic smile. I’ll know that even though my heart breaks in this moment. I was lucky enough to live in a time where Dolly Parton was alive and an inspiration to me, my art, my self esteem, and my kindness. Thank you Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton
